Trump's Tariff's impact on Gladiators [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

The two large problems with our college system are the exorbitant costs and the undergrad system in general. We should really move toward the European system as I understand it, which skips the 2-4 year of undergrad generalneducation and pre-requisites and go straight into the field that you want right out of high school. This does create more pressure in high school to do well and to actually have a better primary education. College would then become more selective, but it does cut down on cost as well as eliminate college drop out rate. Then we have more people become part of the work force sooner rather than waste 4 year in our undergrad system.
I don't feel like any of my 4 years was a waste. The general education and pre-requisites are actually important for people functioning in the real world. The European system just teaches some of those classes in high school, which we also do here if the kids sign up for them.

I'm thinking an income tax rate that high to help supplement education costs would probably not go over well. Of course, the taxes funded other programs too, not just education. But I think you get the gist.....
It would not go over well at all especially since the people that hate taxes the most are also the same people that very happily celebrate uneducation.

I own a 2022 Overland diesel gladiator. A great vehicle. I love it. It's my 4th jeep and I will eventually want to move up to a new one. The window sticker on my gladiator said the engine was made in Italy, the transmission in Germany, 30% of the parts were made in Mexico and all of it was assembled in Toledo, Ohio. What do think Trump's big tariffs are going to do to the price of a new gladiator?
My sister bought a Jeep Renegade. It has a Fiat engine in it. What could go wrong! Nothing but problems all the time. Jeep techs have no clue how to find the problems. For one problem, it took an old school mechanic at one dealership to figure out why the display kept telling her the car was over charging. He determined that in fact it was not overcharging but the display showed 2 volts higher than the actual charge rate. Just one of the freaking problems with the car but she loves the thing. Something is very wrong at Stellantis I think when their dealers can't diagnose their own cars problems. I hope the president is successful in returning much of the manufacturing back to our country. But to do so, we need people trained in the skills necessary to make stuff and be successful. It is one thing to pay high prices for an automobile but when the product is flawed and continually has problems, it points to other problems with auto companies. If we are importing vehicle parts and these cars are still too expensive, there is another reason for it; too many regulations that impact car manufacturer's ability to produce their products. I have a family friend who is an engineer for Ford and he told me that federal regulations make it almost impossible to continue to design cars that people want and with less problems. You can only detune an engine so much before you have problems. That is a fact. I don't worry near as much about the out of control prices for cars I want today as I do for the future of the gas powered vehicle themselves, such as a JT. It has to change.

The nihilism and negativity in some comments here is amazing to me. Maybe it’s cause I’m older. I grew up in a time when there wasn’t anything we couldn’t do as a nation if we put our minds to it. Hell we went to the moon we’ve taken a super computer from twenty or thirty years ago and put it in our pocket. Once the boot of government is removed from the American people’s necks there is no stopping our ingenuity and spirit. We’ve been misled for generations about America and her greatness. Folks need to go back to their High school civics teachers and demand a refund.

We went to the moon because of immigrants from Germany, and the father of microelectronics was an Armenian immigrant 🤣

Yea, the cool thing about America is, all the really smart people that want high taxes can govern themselves as they see fit in well run states like New York and California and realize the fruits of their labor. All of the lower educated people that hate taxes can move to Florida, Texas, or a couple dozen other states.

No, please don't come here. This state is stupid enough.

I hear Mississippi and Alabama are nice for that kind of "thinking"....no pun intended.

Imagine your iphone totally designed and manufactured in the USA by real patriotic murrcans.

That thing would cost $9000 and fail in a week.
I agree with the cost part of that…

Most western (north western?) European post secondary education is free for the student. When I lived in Sweden (95-98), the Income tax rate was around 57%. I'm unsure how the funds were distributed to the schools, but I'm pretty sure all the institutions were state owned. So picking your major and getting it wrong and then repicking your major wasn't a major financial hardship; just takes a little longer to finish, and reduces the inclination to drop out. I live in Canada and am not really current as to American tolerances, but I'm thinking an income tax rate that high to help supplement education costs would probably not go over well. Of course, the taxes funded other programs too, not just education. But I think you get the gist.....
Tennessee offers its residents free community college and funds it through a hotel tax, I think.

My high school civics teachers made me watch Glory 15 times….they were more concerned with the game on Friday nights:)

Thats pretty much the way federalism is supposed to work. However, I have mutiple graduate degrees and live in Texas. Nothing wrong with your opinion, though I disagree with it, but unless you were being facetious, having an education doesn’t mean you don’t prefer lower taxes.

That is kinda my perception, kinda. What I like to hope for are menial jobs get shipped overseas and Americans would concentrate it's labor force on skilled labor jobs. Of course, that goes back on education.

That's the dumb mindless response of someone that lives in a fantasy world.

Also...it's "you're"
