As far as tariffs go, they will raise prices. It doesn’t mean that they can’t be a successful part of a larger plan, but prices will go up, should they be implemented.
Trump is surrounded by a lot of economists and not all of them agree on every issue. By the way, there are also democrats who support the tariffs. From what I've gathered, Trump will apply tariffs in targeted markets which will help stimulate the U.S. economy by protecting some domestic industries from competition. If done properly, tariffs will improve the labor market and promote economic growth. With that said, it's just one step in the bigger plan, which is what you alluded to.

My truck driver spidey sense tells me that it'll not work, at least for the middle class.

I think we’ve all lost sight of what this country is supposed to be…. or USED to be.

“If you don’t like it here, you can leave?” means different things to different people (when its SAID TO YOU or when you SAY IT TO SOMEONE)
Except I don't ever say that to anyone. I think it's a really stupid thing to say, and frankly, it's quite un-American. That's what's so hilarious and also infuriating about it. It's always some myopic xenophobe flag-waving honk saying it, and they don't realize how un-American it is to say that to a fellow American. It implies that we have to just take the bullshit and like it. We don't. This country was founded specifically on not taking any bullshit.

Sure….none of us can agree on how this country should be operated…. That’s not the point. The point is….. We should ALL HAVE PRIDE for being FREE Citizens. We should all be PROUD of our Serviceman and Servicewoman who put their lives on the line to keep us FREE. For all those Veterans who busted their asses for us…who lost their lives for us. The sacrifices they make……for us.

So yes… Everyone has a voice and a vote….. Before any of us feels the need to complain about this country -Take a moment to think …..about those who are sacrificing their lives….who are eating crappy miliary type food while the rest of us are having a cold beer and filet mignon.

Sorry…I felt the need to throw that out there.
And believe it or not…I was born in Canada and became an American citizen the LEGAL way. 😉
Are we free though? How free? I like being free to complain but I can't legally drive 150 mph. Women can't make decisions regarding their own health. I can slam beers and cigarettes all day, but smoking the bud of a plant is a no-no. Basic healthcare is pay-to-play. If you're poor, you die. We have idiotic, contradictory, arbitrary, and puritanical laws. We are free, sure, in some ways, our version of free. And that's nice for sure. But so are lots of people in lots of other countries. We're not unique in that regard, and in some ways, less free than others. I don't take pride in that. I was just born here. I won a piece of the geographic lottery. I feel lucky for sure, but not pride. I didn't earn it. It's okay to have an opinion and complain if something seems wrong. The very 1st Amendment says so. It does not say....shut the fuck up if you don't like it get out.

No, please don't come here. This state is stupid enough.

I hear Mississippi and Alabama are nice for that kind of "thinking"....no pun intended.
I know right? Florida and Texas are so mismanaged they are hemorrhaging people and business to better run states like California and New York.

Texas gets cold, or hot, and the power goes out. Well managed for sure.

Look dude I fucking live here. Lol. Texas is fine. It's not better or worse than anywhere else. Well, the weather is worse than almost everywhere. But otherwise, sure it's okay if you like white trash and urban rednecks. And who doesn't?!?!?!?! I sure do!

Yeah, because they cannot keep a coal power plant running or build a nuclear power plant due to regulations. That is the hand they are dealt with from the Feds.

Wait I forgot two things that Texas does do better than anyone - Mexican food and BBQ. I don't care who you are or what you think....you won't find better Mexican or BBQ anywhere. Texas got that.

Um, no. It's because Texas is more concerned with lining pockets than repairing/modernizing infrastructure. Centerpoint's CEO made a 8 figure bonus while the city loses power from a thunderstorm. The entire grid is privatized for-profit.

No matter where - idiots run the place. I'll pick a place that doesn't tax me as much to live under their rules

I'll take Mexican food in California. BBQ is the one draw to texass, that's it. The weather blows, there are no beauty to the landscape, and it takes 8 hrs to get anywhere. And don't get me started on the dumbass freeways.

Texas chose to be independent. Texas has it's own grid that's not connected to the national grid, because, well, Texas. Stubborn douchebaggery is part of the state's constitution. Texas power comes from all the various non-nuclear ways one would get electricity - solar, wind, gas, coal, whatever. It usually works okay...until it gets really cold, or really hot, or the wind blows from these things called tropical storms and hurricanes. Or just wind in general. Texas tough...except for the electrical grid....but at least we're not dependent on anyone else! We suffer alone!
