OP here. My spot in right rear of bed is obstructed by my swing out toolbox. For the few times I need an outlet I’ll plug in behind front seats and run an extension cord out the back window….

Interesting. In that second to last picture I was expecting to see the wire you need taped to the headlight switch wire. I wonder if they changed it or if it just taped back even further.

@NULL POINTER I used trim piece removal tools to pry off the trim pieces and switch.
I expected the same thing. I'll bet the wire is behind the panel. I don't have the grapes to go after it. I'll just keep stealing someone else's electricity.

Like I do for the shed I live in...

🤣

That's on a 2023 or earlier. I'm not sure how the switch is placed on a 2024 or later. The 2023 kit comes with the entire panel but the 2024 kit comes with only the switch. I haven't been able to find any install instructions yet but I'm sure they're not too far away from being posted. I'm waiting, like you, to see if the 2024 install doesn't require taking the entire interior of the Gladiator apart. 🤣
Same here! I have the wiring swapped and plug in bed, but now just waiting to see if there is an easier way to swap that dash plug/switch.

The local dealer said it would be around $250 to get it activated. Hoping I can find someone that lives near me that has a tazer or equivalent, that doesn't mind just helping me activate the system.

Give taking the trim and light switch out to see if your wire is there. The Reddit poster had the wire. I didn't.

Okay, I should have filmed this but I need three hands to do this job (not sure where the other hand come from). But you can take off the light switch cover and take out the light switch. Then the JL/JT trim piece. Note that the pins are metal. To be honest, it scared the hell out of me prying them out. You'll need a thin pry tool for all three pieces. The trim piece coms off easily. The light switch cover and switch are another matter. The cover comes off easily but the clips inside make a horrible sound. I thought I was breaking something. There are four clips in the switch and very little room to pry. I suggest staring at the bottom right. It's the hardest to get loose. Pry it out and get a Tim pry tool under the clip, then the top right because the fit is tight and you'll have to move the switch down to get the top clip past the cover. It's easy and doable if you know that they're not the regular clips like on the rest of the trim.

When I got mine open... NO OUTLET WIRE! Ugh! I was under the impression that if you had a 115v outlet in the center console that you had an inverter and the wires were there.

I have been betrayed...

Same here, no wire behind the headlamp switch to pull down to where the switch for the rear outlet goes. Nothing taped to the headlight switch wire. Mine is an April 2024 build, I guess they stopped including that wire and connector at some point before April 2024. it was fairly easy to get to the point you show, I just did it. Had I found the wire, I would have ordered the kit from @AllMoparParts.com . Sorry Benny. Glad I looked so I did not waste $243 + shipping. This would have been an easy mod if the wire and connector were there like on the @legacy_etu post

Unless you need AC power , lots of guys installed some rather good DC plugs back there and wired them into the battery. I kinda wish I had done mine this way since I only need it for my Engel cooler and it runs more effeciently when it’s running off DC. It’s also cheaper to do.

@Chapol you can make the programming changes you need to turn the switch on via J scan. Theres a couple of threads on this subject in the forum. J scan costs like 20$ ……..

I have a January 2024 build Mojave and I ordered the kit without seeing this thread. I'm waiting for better weather to do this (cold weather and pulling on plastic trim is a bad mix) but I thought about this last night after reading this thread-

What if the outlet is energized at all times (or at least when the ignition is on)? Has anyone gone to the point of installing the outlet, bed harness and activating it to test? If not, I'll be doing that as soon as the weather stops being miserable here. I type this listening to the snow outside turn to sleet/freezing rain which almost certainly means I'll be losing power at some point.

I haven't found any information about some being already powered. I'm going to try to find the wiring harness diagram to see if there are different part numbers that may exclude the switch wiring.

Good luck with the power. Both house and Gladiator.

Maybe you could take some pics of what is in the kit you ordered and post them? I suspect that besides not including the panel for 2024+, there might be a different harness for the switch - maybe? Also if the kit has MOPAR instructions, some pics of the switch sections would be welcome. The "instructions" on @AllMoparParts.com are for 2023 and prior. Maybe Benny can weigh in, too. Thanks. Hope you don't lose your power.

I may do this when I go to install my new lower dash speakers since I have to remove that whole panel anyways to get to them.

I recalled reading a thread where someone had mentioned that the connector is still there but it was taped further back on the harness. Mine 2021 was taped a few inches from the headlight switch connector.

Power has held on so far but the evening/overnight is when the wind is supposed to pick up. Thankfully I'm as well-equipped as you can be without having a generator (rental) but it's annoying. Thanks for the well-wishes though.

To be clear, "kit" may be a bit disingenuous. I got it from AllMoparParts but it is just a bunch of individual parts they order and package together:

6831-2754AC-001- This is the actual outlet in the bed with maybe an 8" whip that terminates to a 4-pin connector. I suspect this is the same across all years.
6861-6398AB-001- This is the bed harness and it has 3 other plugs on it in addition to the 4-pin for the outlet. Again, I'd suspect this is the same across all years.
The baggie of screws in nut-inserts or whatever you want to call them is in the glovebox and I'm not going outside for them. haha

6837-0049-AA-001- This is the switch. Visually it seems to be the same as the one shown in the videos but pics of this are below.

I’m interested in a kit. Im assuming this works for a 2023 Rubicon that doesn’t have the bed outlet ?
