Navigation - POI just about worthless?

Am I missing something here or is the navigation system just about worthless if you do not know the address for the location? If I want to get directions to a specific POI like a restaurant, it cannot find it. Seems to always have to be an address. Even when I use an address in voice command it almost never picks the right address even when I speak slowly and clearly.
I never have an issue with GPS in my wife's Lincoln.

Skip that, use Google maps through either car play or android auto. You can talk to Google search just like on a computer, have a partial name of some place, you'll probably get your destination in the first few results

I know that Google or Apple Car Play is a better option. Just ridiculous that the factory GPS isn't better. The one in my wife's Lincoln is pretty much flawless and very useful with traffic integration.

The factory is still working on the old Tom Tom model, it's a static map, I've been getting messages about to updating my maps(to some unknown stale point) for something like $200. I've used the built in nav a couple times, and you're right, the interface is pretty terrible, once I got the hang of having voice commands through Android Auto, I haven't gone back. The one thing on the factory nav that's decent is finding gas station and listing of prices, even if you run out of your introductory data plan, but then also you get over the air OTA updates to your infotainment screen(and Lord knows what else)...... Just saying.... Sorry to pile that conundrum on top of that.

I only use my truck nav for off-road. It has all same trails onX does and doesn’t need service

I didn't know it has the trails like onX. That's good to know.

Yeah I was shocked cus I never used it but I was in the middle of bumfuck. onX took a shit and I was like well maybe truck nav can help. Boom, every road and trail labeled and numbered. Never went back. Started marking all my favorite campsites in there too.

I really can't think of any reason to even have the integrated navigation when carplay or android auto exist. But it got bundled in my truck so I have it.

@djwatts Yeah. It chimes as you approach a light with a camera. Was annoying till I figured out what the noise was and how to disable it.

My new Honda Accord doesn't even come with Navigation. No need any more with the options available on Car Play Android auto? I updated the Nav. in my gladiator then kicked myself for burning money.

I really like my nav on my Gladiator. Two days ago I was in some small town in Kansas and I put in Dairy Queen and it took me right to it.

I've had mine since July 2019. The nav works great other than this complaint. If it doesn't come up in a search, I just Google the address I need and enter that.
