Gladiators are extremely capable and do Holocomb and John Bull all day long. In those videos even what appears to be a sport S completes the trail. I'm sure a Big Bear edition could complete these trails with a lift and bigger tires with relative ease.
And that is a bottom line. ALL of them even the most blatant cosmetic edition still at its core is a good capable off road vehicle...particularly in comparison to most anything else.

But does it come with a picnic basket?
No, that would be reserved for the "Jellystone Park" edition.

I spend a lot of time in Big Bear, CA and see more Jeep Gladiators there than anywhere else. I constantly get honked and waved at by other Gladiators and I also see an unusually high number of Telsa trucks and also Rivian trucks there. My '21 Mojave does well on off road trails around Big Bear.

As a JTM owner, a Jeep YJ and TJ owner, and also one who still owns property in Big Bear: I must admit that Holcolm and John Bull isn't what it used to be. It used to be harder. Tougher. But I admit, I haven't run those trails in 20 years or so. They look a lot easier now from the @AustyPosty video share.

Maybe because 33s was a big tire back when I ran those trails. And 37s or 40s are the norm with you young tough guys.

So, I apologize to only you bad-ass jeep guys if my support for the Jeep brand coming out with a 'Big Bear' edition isn't inline as being a good thing. Big Bear isn't Aspen or Vail. It is not high class and Gucci. It is real people living in the mountains. So a Rubicon X - Big Bear edition with 35s priced higher would not sell with the locals on the mountain. Only Vail members could afford it. And the jet set Vail members may be too high to know, or admit that they know about 'Big Bear'.

If added rock rails and a Big bear sticker for the edition seems to be a joke. You probably never lived there and you might be being a bit too critical of the Jeep brand. You might want to check your intent.

Be Well. Jeep on.

I never thought of it from the point of view of a Big Bear local. Living in the lowlands, we always saw Big Bear as a weekend retreat for the city folk yuppies. For the millions living down below, Big Bear is synonymous with Rental cabins and Ski/Snowboard daytrips.

Yep. it is different living there. 45 min from the high crime and homeless in downtown San Bern and it is another world. It is like another state or country to live there.

I am sure there is a positive influence to the businesses there from the 'flatlanders', tourists and ski-bunnies. A lot of retail small businesses up there would die if not for those classes of people.

Although there are serious money - owners on the mountain, most of the locals I met and knew on the mountain were just mid-income folks just loving the life in the mountains and forest.

Back when I lived there, most of the high dollar vehicles seen up there are flat landers visiting in rentals or Air BNB cabins. Or 4x4 enthusiasts checking out the trails. Oh, and the fishermen, can't forget them. Tourists, basically.

It is only a guess, but I would guess that 80 percent or more of vehicle traffic up there is not the locals. It's visitors.

March 19, 2025 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Jeep® brand is celebrating the Golden State, introducing the new 2025 Jeep Gladiator Big Bear Edition, available exclusively for customers in California.

“Our 2025 Jeep® Gladiator Big Bear Edition brings Californians their own unique take on the Gladiator, with a pickup truck that delivers popular content as standard and at a great value, plus signature Jeep capability and class-exclusive open-air freedom,” said Bob Broderdorf, chief executive officer, Jeep brand. “It's the perfect companion for exploring California’s standout geography, whether you're heading to its sandy shores, rugged peaks or expansive deserts.”

The 2025 Jeep Gladiator Big Bear Edition is named as an homage to both Southern California's like-named, four-season mountain lake recreation area and that natural icon for power seen on the state flag, the California grizzly bear. Building from the well-equipped Jeep Gladiator Sport S, this special edition combines new exterior enhancements and bespoke Big Bear hood and rear tailgate badging, with off-road capability via the Jeep Command-Trac 4x4 part-time and two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio.

Standard equipment on the 2025 Jeep Gladiator Big Bear Edition includes:
  • 17-inch black-painted aluminum wheels with 32-inch mud-terrain tires
  • Steel rock rails
  • Body-color hardtop
  • Unique, class-exclusive open-air freedom options, such as removable roof panels, completely removable roof, removable doors and a fold-down windshield
  • Black McKinley-trimmed leather seats
  • Heated front seats and heated steering wheel
  • Keyless entry
  • Power heated mirrors
  • First- and second-row side-curtain airbags
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen
  • Remote start system
  • Universal garage door opener
The 2025 Jeep Gladiator enhances safety, connectivity and entertainment with extensive in-vehicle digital connectivity. Customers get three months of Jeep Connect services, with options for up to 10 years of Safety and Security Package access and five years of Vehicle Performance Package access. The vehicle supports over-the-air (OTA) updates for continuous software evolution.

The Uconnect 5 system features AppMarket, an onscreen hub for connected features, adventure apps like Geocaching and The Dyrt, and games like Soduku. AppMarket's digital store simplifies account management, allowing users to discover and purchase connected services packages from the vehicle's main screen, including Wi-Fi hotspot, Jeep Offroad Pages Plus and SiriusXM Radio.

The 2025 Jeep Gladiator Big Bear Edition is limited to 5,000 units and is now available at California Jeep dealerships, starting at a U.S. MSRP of $46,090 (excluding a $1,995 destination fee). This edition offers a range of exterior color options, including the new-for-2025 color ‘41, plus Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue, Firecracker Red and Anvil.

Beyond introducing this new model just for Californians, Stellantis North America has also extended a hand to the Golden State to assist with its recovery efforts around the LA fires. The company has donated $500,000 to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles Wildfire Response, alongside employee disaster relief drives at its Auburn Hills, Michigan, campus and at Mopar and manufacturing facilities, collecting both food and essential items.

" he 2024 Willys gets the rubicon springs, m220 Dana 44 narrow track rear axle with e-locker and 285/70/17 bfgoodrich all terrains. The previous Willy’s have sport springs and fenders with rubicon shocks, m220 narrow rear axle with limited slip, and Firestone desrination mt in 255/75/17. Lots of differences in the 24. "
I thought the Willys now had the wider axles?

"Let's market a special edition gas powered vehicle to ONLY be available in a state that has vowed to ban gas powered vehicles."

This is either marketing madness or genius. It is often hard to tell them apart.

Yeah, seems counterintuitive but there is still a lot of money to be made there selling ICE vehicles until they cannot.

Judging by the prices of Jeeps and the reluctance of California dealers to discount more that $500 off MSRP I think they will have no problems.
If they had added a 2” Mopar lift, lockers, and 35’s out the gate they probably would have a line at the cash register.
