Yeah

Yeah, what’s nice about using the screws is that you can use some clamps to get one piece aligned and held together once glue is applied. Then you can screw it together, remove the clamps and set up another piece. It allows you to build everything with a minimal number of clamps.

Here’s another little trick: when gluing big flat surfaces together, like plywood, sprinkle a little salt in between them once you’ve applied the glue. The grit helps prevent them sliding around while getting your clamps situated.
I'll have to see about adding back support. I won't necessarily have a wall to lean it against. Shouldn't be too hard.
First I'll have to convert metric to standard. 😉

Awesome writeup, solid work and thanks for sharing it with us.

May I ask what program you used to make the slides?

Mac Keynote. It's their version on MS PowerPoint

  • I'm retired, have an old computer and don't have a proper CAD program. I built these plans in Keynote; so please forgive the crudeness of the plans. I've been as thorough as I could be but it's just not CAD. As I like to say, these plans are "directionally correct and precisely wrong."

Wow! Very detailed and very cool! I wish standard instructions that came with products I ordered online, were this well put together. Well done and thanks for posting. I have a new project for the winter.

This is such a cool idea, and very well executed. When I was in the Navy I had opportunity to ride in the back of the CH 46’s and always thought it would be good garage seating to get some of those and do a similar plan. i like the comfort and design of this Gladiator seat much better. Bonus with the fold down armrest and cup holders! Nicely done @HooliganActual !!
