V8’s On The Horizon……..(?)

I'm curious as to how many people really need the inefficient and marginal power of a V8 just to drive to Bass Pro and back.

Jeeps have been climbing and slogging through shit since day one with mediocre engines.

Sort of funny as the 3.6 blows the old 304 away.
If it's going to be done, make it a real jump.

Funny how much more fun a 70's Renegade with a piss ant 304 was to drive than a boring stock 3.6 in a Gladiator though . If I had a choice I take the 360 Magnum over any just because of the torque available with out revving the shit out of it . Mine were in a 1500 Rams RCSB with the offroad pkg, always felt like it was in the right gear to accelerate easily without down shifting and screaming . Kind of like the fox body mustangs were ,the torque better at lower rpms where you feel it just driving around town. As far as the 304 In reality none of the AMC V8s were much to talk about compared to the big 3s V8s out of the box . If money is no object you can make a golf cart quick

Jeep gave you a option that gave you better than gas v6 output, and not many shelled out the $6k bump in price for a ecoD. You think a gas v8 will be any different with a likely $8k bump in price?

If you want your JEEP enthusiasts to stay Jeep enthusiasts & continue buying Jeep vehicles (REPEAT business) then you go to all the Jeep Enthusiast forums / Groups, etc and ask them what they want. I’m sure they have well-paid marketing folks all over the internet getting feedback and stirring up the masses.

But of course….they could just cater to all the NON - JEEP enthusiasts and build us something we could totally throw-up on.

Ok, how many would NOT own/buy a JT if a V8 were the base engine? (I know there are forces in place that will keep this from happening…..)

Like many others here, I’d prefer a V8 in my Gladiator; yet not enough to justify paying for extra fluff likely included by Stellantis. Offer a high torque 5.7 as stand alone option for $3,500 and watch how many would check that box.

As a "base engine" that means it's the stock standard engine, then sure, I'd take a V8 in a JT. If that's what it comes with then sure, okay. What I personally am not interested in is paying a bunch more on an already very expensive vehicle for an engine option that's a piece of shit anyway.

Ha yeah man I don't hate V8s. I just don't trust that Jeep would ever provide an affordable or awesomely fun and powerful V8 option. A $100k Mojave/Rubicon V8 is not appealing at all.

I’d bet the inline 4 will happen in the gladiator before the V8…..

I believe the 4 banger is going to be standard, and the option will be hybrid, or not, I believe the current 6 banger will go by the wayside. Given a choice between a turbo 4 banger, or a non-turbo 8, I will take the 8 every time.

Don't get me wrong - i like the SBC and have for years (liked the engine in my Silverado, all aluminum LS) - but trading one set of valve train failures for another?
