I know it almost seems a antique thing in todays world of modern transmissions.
I checked mine every few thousand miles and just checked color and clarity it was always good I may have added the tiniest amount one time to it .

Well, I want to introduce a guy I have liked for many years, and this test changed my mind on Pennzoil.

You guys get too serious about oils. LOL, but I definitely appreciate the responses. I should make the comment in a new thread.

You know that is pure entertainment right? That wear scar machine he uses has not any referenced ASTM standard test for motor oil and is only meant to be used with Hypoid Gear oils and only under strict conditions. The only thing his motor oil test even show worth measurable note and giving him some very wide leeway is the cold pour test.

I like pf for most of the stuff they test and do.....but they can't really test oils properly. Their oil and additive tests really drag down the credibility, IMO

Oops I see Hootbro beat me to it...........

Anyway, that is one of their videos you can pretty much ignore unless you like the sped-up audio effect.

So, that being said, what is your go-to oil? I for the longest used Castrol to start with, then my uncle told me that Mobil One was all he used. I never liked Pennzoil till I saw this. Now, my first oil change that I did since I owned my Truck was Mobil One full synthetic. What is your guys' opinion?

For me the choices are ultra platinum Pennzoil 0w20 - my other choice would be Mobil 1.

I base that in part on the base used, the resistance to viscosity loss and other factors.

I have run Mobil 1 in my slightly built 4.0 that gets driven hard (cam with radical ramps, shaved the head 0.024", mopar performance valve springs and so on - places a lot of load on the cam lobes and lifters.

Honestly, there really is no bad oils if they meet current API and MS-6395 spec. Pick whatever your favorite brand flavor and run with it. Everybody has there own opinion and there is never a consensus because it is arguing over decimal points of value that really mean nothing in the long run.

I do not necessarily follow this advice because I shop a lot for oil on sale and clearance, so I am not brand loyal, but there is a value to just picking any quality oil brand and sticking with it for the long haul.

Give us a 10 minute warning before using big words like "abiogenic" as I had to Google that.
