Just noticed something weird with the remote start on my '23 Gladiator and I'm not sure if there's a fault or this is normal operation. I generall, actualy always, run the climate control on Auto & sync the two zones. We're in a hot spell so before I left work I triggered auto start from my office. I went to the Jeep about four minutes later and found the HVAC blower running at a fast speed, but the A/C was not engaged. I shut it off and tried it again, same thing. I could get in and hit the Auto climate control button and the A/C came on just fine. I've tried this several times and the remote start never kicks in the A/C.

I don't recall this being the case last summer. Is this normal operation? I can't imagine it is, what would be the point of the remote start other than to waste fuel?

I have never used the Auto Climate Control. I manually set the AC and Recirc to on, sync the zones, and set the temperature to 70 degrees. I always remote start, and the fan is on high and the AC running when I get in. When I hit the Start button, the fan speed drops to what it was set at when it was last turned off. It has worked that way for six years and two trucks.

I can't speak for my current truck (as it's a manual) but what you are describing is exactly how the previous one and both our Grand Cherokees seem to function.

Also, I never bothered to really look into it, but the compressor NOT kicking on when using ACC is something I definitely recall bothering me on the Grand Cherokees as well.

All this is to say.....unless someone has evidence otherwise. I currently am leaning this being normal.

Thank you, I will give that a try.

You will not see the A/C light on when it's in auto - even if the AC is working.
The only time the AC light will come on is when the auto is not engaged.
But - the AC still works.
Just because the AC light isn't on doesn't mean AC isn't running - I have always left my Jts in auto mode since the day I've bought them, winter or summer, I set the temp, leave it in auto mode and it works just fine - but you won't see the AC light if it's in auto mode.

Thanks. What I meant to say is I don’t see the Auto light illuminated, which it was when the vehicle had previously been shut down. When using remote start the HVAC system is just blowing outside air through the vents. If I shut the engine off and start it normally the Auto light is illuminated and the A/C is operating fine.

Ok, I tried these settings this AM. When I got to work I had the panel set to A/C and recirculation. I closed and locked the doors, then gave the remote start button on the fob two presses. Sure enough, as soon as the engine fired up it turned off both A/C and recirculation. I got in the vehicle and started it normally and both buttons illuminated and the functions were working.

When you opened the door after the remote start, was the fan running and blowing cold air? Did you give it a few minutes to start the AC?

I watched through the drivers window. It started, the A/C and recirculation buttons that had been switched on when I’d shut it off illuminated for 1/2 second, then went out. When I opened the door it was blowing warm air, no A/C. Same thing as when I have it on Auto.

What temperature is it set at, and what is the outdoor temperature? The system looks at those when making decisions.

I'll have to look at mine and see if the lights come on when remote started. It always works, so I've never really paid attention to it.

You could try a system reboot and see if it helps any. Disconnect both batteries for about ten minutes. It will take the head unit up to 24 hours to return to normal.

I'm thinking perhaps the junior battery may be causing problems.

Try separately charging each battery and resetting the IBS. The batteries may be marginal, but the voltage level is still high enough that remote start works.

Thanks, I’ll try that over the weekend. I checked voltage on the dash before I started it this AM and it read 12.2V.
