I bought an engine/trans skid and went over to a friend’s place yesterday to have a second set of hands to install it. Crawled under and noticed a leak from the back of the pan. I’ll be calling the dealer in a bit to get it looked at but a bit of a disappointment at such low miles. But it wouldn’t be a Jeep if it didn’t leak something. Haha.

Bolts might be under torqued. They went to newer style gasket a couple of years ago that is similar to the differential cover gaskets and a lot better than the earlier style.

I have a 2024 so it should be the newest revision but I’ll let the dealer sort it.

Visited the dealer this morning. Turns out it is the transfer case input seal which they didn’t have. And I also have a bad wheel bearing up front that I just assumed was choppy tires. Parts should be in next week. Annoyed the Jeep had all this when so new but the dealer was good to me at least. Tech came out to talk about it which is something I haven’t experienced in ages.

Dealer addressed/tired to address several issues Monday.

Faulty wheel bearing replaced. Making a ton of noise.

Parking brake barely worked so they adjusted it.

Speakers in soundbar rattle. Part is on forever backorder.

Replaced t case input seal. Still leaks. Worse than before.

I love the truck but this is really disappointing with 8k miles on it. I’m supposed to be going to Colorado next month for vacation and I’m about to cancel it because I don’t trust this thing anymore.

Second update. Jeep Cares is 100% useless. Dealer won’t give loaners or claims not to have them. Jeep won’t humor authorizing a rental unless the truck is already there. I can’t keep taking time off from work for this nonsense. I’m going to end up paying for a rental and hoping this garbage company reimburses me. I see now why this thing was discounted so much. I was a moron for buying this knowing Jeep’s reputation.

The issue of loaners or paid rentals has always been a sticking point with FCA brands. Besides the Jeep Wave program for same single day service, there is not an official policy by FCA to offer them and leave that up to the dealers if the so choose to offer that service.

Now I get to wait for a new transfer case. Being replaced due to metal porosity supposedly. Really disappointed in Jeep right now. Had to cancel that Colorado trip because I was supposed to drive this POS out there and now I don’t know if it’ll be back in time.

Just another update/warning I guess-

I was told last week it would be ready this week. This week, they say maybe next week. Counting to 30 days like a kid at Christmas so I can try pursuing lemon law buyback. Love the truck but what a turd it has been.

Damn that sucks dude. So weird how you can get a truck with all this issues in 8k and then the exact same truck, like mine. 50k on it in 2 year and not a single issue. Nor for lack of abuse either.

I just noticed my transfer case leaking as well at 50k miles. Not enough to drip on the floor but you can see the red lubricant when you crawl underneath and look.

Jeep Cares
Jeep Cares has been completely useless in offering any assistance. This dealer has no loaners, I’m paying out of pocket right now in the hope that you people will reimburse me which probably won’t happen since the dealer has refused to give me a closed out repair order on either of the previous visits. The rep also doesn’t have the same info the dealer does as I was told the new transfer case would deliver this week and the dealer says it has not even shipped.

You treat your customers like dirt. The feds should’ve let your company collapse back in 2008/09.

Holy shit….that sucks!! I’d be pissed !!!

What you thought was a simple ‘leak’ turned into a gazillion other things.
How does that happen??
I mean… Is the dealership literally looking for shit to replace on purpose?
Turned into a huge cluster-F.

Keep pushing, keep calling, keep visiting….. and let ‘em know you’re pissed. Be THAT GUY ….. It absolutely sucks when you gotta spend your valuable time (and time off work) dealing with this kinda crap. It’s everywhere in all businesses….. nobody cares.

My theory is that they scored or otherwise damaged the machined pocket where the input shaft seal goes and made the leak worse. I doubt it was on purpose but they’re covering tracks now. The lack of loaners is a big miss on them but otherwise the dealer has been decent and apologetic.
Jeep Cares is hopeless. It’s an overseas call center and I get different answers every time I call, assuming I even get ahold of anyone.

I’m sure I’ll cool off some whenever the truck is back but right now I somehow have decent positive equity in the truck (assuming KBB is accurate) and I may just dump this for a boring crossover and give up on fun. Having to cancel that trip to Colorado killed me. I’ve wanted to go out that way since I was like 14. I’m 40 now and finally was in a place financially with the right vehicle and generous PTO at work to make it all happen and it went to hell. I’m done trying to have fun with machines. lol
