I have been having this issue for a while, where usually the first couple times I start driving during the day, I hear a squeaking noise coming from the rear end. I thought it sounded like the brakes. The jeep went in to the dealership a couple times for some warranty work but they could never find the source of the noise. Today I went to rotate the tires after doing an oil change and thought maybe I could try and find the source. I put it on a lift and made sure all 4 tires were off the ground and removed the back two. I put it in drive and this was the result. To me, it sounds and looks like maybe the parking brake may be

too tight and needs adjustment? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Dude that ain't the brakes I be looking at the ring gear for the limited slip diff you got it messed up. The hubs should not be pulsating it should be steady turn with the driveshaft albeit at the correct ratio.

Looks like stripped gears.

I would be popping that cover off and inspecting.

I'm not a mechanic, so how does one strip their gears? I've seen it happen when someone is hitting the trails pretty hard but never from just everyday street driving, can that actually happen?

From an incorrectly installed set of gears not set up properly. Or lack of gear oil.

I don't think either one of those would be the issue in this case unless it came from the factory that way. Which, could be a possibility I suppose.

It most certainly is a possibility. There have been instances in every single auto maker of rearend failures. I am telling you for a fact there is something wrong with the gearing in the rearend. Make sure it's safe to get under and drain that oil and pull that diff pan see if something is chewed up in there. @ShadowsPapa @Charles 236 check this video out see what you think 🤔

I appreciate the input. I already stopped in to the dealer this morning. I showed them the video and it is being dropped off on Thursday. Being that it is still under warranty I will leave it to them. I don't need them accusing me of tampering with it. Luckily I have another car I can drive for the next few days.

Bearings squeak.
Brakes squeak.
U-joints can squeak.
Gears don't squeak.

To rule out brakes in any such case, either pull the calipers off, or - tap the caliper in and out to create some clearance between the pads and the rotor surface. Make sure you can turn the rotors by hand and not have the brake pads dragging on the rotor.
Pulsing is usually due to the fact a rotor is never quite perfect and the brakes touch enough to slow that side down while the other speeds up, back and forth.

Usually a gear issue is noisy. Not a squeak, but a rumble or other noise at speed.
A broken gear will really make sounds under load.
The only thing I can think of that would "strip" would be the splines on the inner ends of the axles where they engage with the carrier side gears - but wow, you'd really have an issue and taking off from a stop with any power - she's going to grind and chatter.
To me, stripped means the gear is damaged to the point it can literally jump a tooth or more. That takes a lot with a ring and pinion - has to really be missing big chunks and takes some doing.
Spider or side gears with missing or damaged teeth will only jump or slip when the broken tooth is under load - once in a while, not all the time as going straight those aren't turning, they are engaged and not moving in relationship to each other.

Gotta run, more later.........
