Hey all and thank you in advance.
Trailside, took a break to let the dog out and from the corner of the eye wifey noticed the broken liner, and then noticed the loos connector flopping around.

A, I have no idea how the heck that liner breaks at that location ...
No rubbing and definitely not there...
for the love do not tell me martens do that sorta damage...
B, the connector was flopping around, so I cant tell what was vibration or perhaps rodents, but the retention pin (christmas tree pin?!) looks hella worn and does go into its spot super easy, so I doubt it retains anything.
What connector is that, and what you all think could would cause that...?
Any advice... kinda don't want to get stick as we have another 1to 2k miles to go on this trip.
Just cut liner and zip tie it? Leave the liner to keep some crud away from that connector?

That could happen when flexing if your axle isn't center after a lift, plus a higher offset wheels or wider tires.

Here’s what I got for what that connector is. I’ve had it apart to clean and maintain the seal and pins.

Yours sits nicer, will have to see if I cant rotate it like yours...
There are definitely rubbing evidence on the wire tape at the coil bucket

So that christmas tree pin is kinda worn but I seated it as best I could. You can see some wear on the cable and where it sat on the coil bucket rubbing away the dinitrol rust protection coating
