Anyway, back to the Commando 392

MotorTrend got pics of the interior and we can see it has all the Rubicon goodies (front and rear locker with the e-swaybar disconnect).

I was thinking maybe it would’ve been a more base model with a 392 thrown in (thinking Sport S) to help keep the price down but this is great! A literal Rubicon 392 with most of the MOPAR catalog and Fox suspension, for under $70K. I’m impressed.

Yeah, I mean, 99% of people in the real world are, if it fits it ships.

And Facebook DOT never pulls them over and weighs their crap.

On the internet though, the illustrious DOT is behind every tree and bush with the insurance adjuster just waiting to DENY YOUR CLAIM.

I remember right after JT launch, like, within 10 days, some dude had a 24' camper hooked to a Max Tow, fishtailed, and jacknifed it. Was all over the internet lol.
A lot of times it isnt the fact that it won't move it forward its how well it stays planted in wind shear, rain etc.. what a nimcompoop. People don't think.

This makes me giggle a little - because on a tractor forum I frequent people get bent out of shape about tying a tractor down on a trailer and constantly quote DOT rules and regulations for when to use a strap, chains, how many, were at, etc.

Often, folks are like buddy, this isn't a CMV and it isn't for hire - your lucky if most folks set the parking brake, throw one strap over the bucket, slap it and say 'that ain't going nowhere'.

To your point, real world towing is much the same for regular folks 🤣

Again, I feel like the price is reasonable because it could possibly be subsidized to a degree for a Veterans Day PR move and I don't see it as all that impressive for a vehicle being sold new with no doors and no roof (or at least I have not seen evidence that any are included - could be wrong).

Now, if four painted doors and a hard top come in the package, and they don't get hit with massive dealer upcharges when allocated and sold - seems solid.

If the following AI Overview is correct,
then the Commando at $69,995
would be a steal.

"The price of a new Jeep 392 starts at $81,990 for the 2026 Moab 392 model, which is significantly less than the 2025 Final Edition's starting price of around $99,995. The 2026 model achieves this lower price by removing some standard content, although orders for the 2026 model are currently open, notes MotorTrend and Jeep. "

I threw my name in the hat for one, but if selected, and you can’t get it with full doors and a hard or soft top…then I’m out. We’ll be moving to a cold state next summer so I need the better top lmao

Though, I’d bet someone would trade a soft top for that? Who knows.

I love these as well, I’m wandering in the light is built into it or if it’s just the plastic shell from the plastic fenders.
From what I can gather from the kinks you reuse your lights into the fender. It is a replacement fender and is obviously paintable.
