If you look at the other similar named thread you'll see all the lighting I did on a buddies car trailer a year or two ago.

Well, I love lights and stuff. I don't have a car trailer, but whatever.

I use my 5x10 a lot and recently put on new tires, a spare tire mount and tire cover, and a nice tongue box and bought some straps, bungees, cargo net, bottle jack, and lung wrench to keep on the trailer.

Anyway, I had some lights and brackets laying around from past projects and installed those. These work with reverse from my truck.

In my junk box i had a red LED strip light. I put that in the tongue box so I could find stuff at night. It is tied to marker lights.

While at Hobo Freight to get something else i caved and bought new LED tail lights. I also added the amber marker lights to the front corners.

I attached this project box i had to the front of the tongue box to hold the electronics. The remotes will be used to control the various lights independent of truck operation.

I switched the trailer to seven pin so I can utilize reverse and power from the truck.

I left off here last night.

The trailer will have backup lights, underbody lights, and lights to illuminate the deck.

In reverse, the underbody lights and backup lights will come on with the truck.

When not in reverse I should be able to control the back lights and underbody lights independently via remote.

The deck lights will work only via remote, though I may add a switch on the box to control them from there as well.

I’ve thought about picking up a cheaper used 5x10 and turning it into a “rooftop” tent carrier for wheeling events and stuff. For pure off road trips I’m a ground dweller but for festivals and events and such it’d be nice to have one. If I did it I’d do it similar to what you have going on here with all the lights and stuff. Either that or a smaller cargo trailer I can throw a cot into. I dunno. I don’t want to spend the cash on an RV type trailer and use it 2 or 3 times a year then it just sits there looking at me perplexed. Seems like a waste of resources.

I have considered getting an RTT to bolt to mine when I want it. I can load it / unload it pretty easy with the forks on my tractor. I only camp in the winter months, and the occasional nascar race, though.

Exactly. I was thinking of one of those big ole square ones that probably nobody would actually put on their vehicle. Like a roof top Taj Mahal. :CWL:

A bit more done tonight.

Underbody lights done. They work from the remote as intended as well as from the truck when in reverse. The camera makes the light spread look slightly wider than it is. Im probably going to make some mounts to angle the underbody lights a little further out.

Later this weekend I will do the deck lights.

I know you're probably being facetious.

But you're talking to a guy that is putting a ridiculous amount of area lighting on a 10 foot trailer.

If my pockets were deep enough, I'd 100% put a Gladiator on the ground, supercharge it, and then post it here, relentlessly, to upset everyone.

I wouldn't do it just out of spite either, I'd do it cause I also just like weird shit.

Need full disco mode.
A full RGB rock light kit was available, and I'm pretty sure the kits had modes.

But I was trying to be somewhat serious, lol. I do a lot of trailer dragging in rural areas so being able to see around the tires and behind the trailer, especially with 20% tint, is a nice to have.

I would love to outfit some bigger trailers for people, or for folks that legit work with their trailers, and I'd also like to upfit work trucks for people in the future (lighting, inverters, etc).

This is the result of my entire adult career being spend wiring / working on / working with emergency vehicles.

You need to know how tall that drop gate is when you're backing into the shrubbery, lest you take out Mrs. Johnson's prized rhododendron by "accident."

I mean, I'd probably use black conspicuity so it's low profile, but don't tempt me with a good time.

We get some customers that request black reflective as it's not as it's a more subtle look during the day but still catches your eye at night.

In the event I get enough play money to put a cap on my truck, I'd 100% light it up like an alien abduction - but mostly as a display for what I could do for folks.

Would use the cap to better cover my tools and things, and set up up dual controllers (cab and bed) for operating all working and warning lights.

I'm in the office these days, but I miss all the work I did in production for years.
