If you run a parallel computer and wiring system for the 5.3, and trans, will the other body systems function with the Jeep computer?

I can not give you the reasons, but my understanding is, no.

The dodge and GM systems use different language to talk and you would need something that converts each ones program to the other for the systems to work.

I swapped a 6.0 LS with a 6L80E transmission into my 2007 JKU and it had a box in the wiring harness to do just that, allow the two different systems to talk to each other.

This probably is clear as mud, but best answer I can give.

The reason I ask is I see Bruiser who has expensive swaps for the bigger current chevys but I don’t see where they sell a harness.
Novak offers mod of stock 5.3 harness to work with JK and so does RPM Extreme. Nothing for JL or JT.
Sorry but the VVL is a boat anchor so I’m not paying for another. 5.3 (pre AFM/VVT) is a reliable engine with plenty of power stock. Apparently I’m going to have to do stand alone and figure out the rest as I go.
No, 392 isnot an option, I’ve had enough ticking to last a life time……

Nope.

Can bus won't let any of that happen.

You can gut the interior and make a new dash/hvac and run any engine.

Or you can develop an interface to give the vehicle CAN the signals it wants for the dash and HVAC.

RPM has an interface I just don’t know if the have one for JL/JT. I have a feeling I’m going to have to figure it out.

Any good sources covering the Can Bus on these things?

I'm going to assume we haven't seen a bridge module for the JL/JT like they have for the JK because either the CAN systems have gotten too complex compared to what was in the JK, or more simply the demand isn't there because JL/JT's are far more compatible with late model Hemi's, especially due to the existence of the 392 Wrangler (all the home work is done, basically).

I too would consider a 6.2L/6L80E swap some day (way, way down the road - if I even had my Gladiator anymore) over a Hemi. I do not dislike the Hemi, but I am extremely familiar with LS drive trains.

I totally get the dislike for AFM (I have it disabled in my Camaro), but I love the VVT. It pulls so much smoother than the LS3 I had, which was more of a light switch at 4,000 RPM whereas my L99 just grunts from 2,500 on up.

No.

If this was simple as slap an LS in it, companies wouldn't be charging 30k for conversions and getting it.

You're going to learn to code, learn to make PCB's, learn a lot of new things that one individual typically isn't walking around with the knowledge in their head.

To be blunt AF, you're not going to do this with factory functionality.

Either commit to ripping out the dash, or start saving for a professional swap, or live with the tick until you trade it in.

Trade? Good luck with that.
I get what you are saying, and will probably have to go that route. I’ve completely swapped dashes and wiring before, just wish I didn’t have to…….

At some point, someone will offer the needed modules not attached to a 30k swap, I hope.

But right now, that's where were at on the JL/JT stuff.

Basically I want something reliable that I can drive, not just stare at in the driveway. There was a time where the V8 bell housing was the same as a six so a swap was straight forward. Those days are gone.
Right now I’m looking for a vehicle I can part out to include a wiring harness and computer to mod. Either that or I’ll look at rebuilt engine and trans and buy a harness etc.

That is a whole bunch of work to gain 70hp. The 3.6L gains about half that with an e85 tune. Last I checked an ecu swap is far cheaper and easier than engine, trans, wiring, ecu, and trying to get it all to function together.
