Swapped the oil cooler & the guy for some reason installed the cheap sensor that came with it. Now we have the code that the sensor is bad. We have ordered a mopar one from dealer twice and it’s been the right part number but wrong sensor.
Has anyone had luck with any sensors from an aftermarket source ?

I am assuming your referring to the pressure sensor from the P0520 code.

I just had my oil cooler housing on my Ram replaced with an aluminum housing and pressure sensor from Dorman. The part number for the pressure sensor listed on my receipt is 926-188. $57.99 at shop.advanceautoparts.com as of 12/26/2025. I have no history with it yet so can’t speak to quality or longevity, but the mechanic says it’s all they use.

Was there something wrong with the original?, most people swap the factory in if it was still working. I went ahead and ordered a new Molar sensor before doing my swap.

The plastic body of the original oil cooler had warped and was leaking. Dorman makes an all aluminum replacement housing (on my invoice it’s called an engine oil filter adapter part 926-959). It’s on my 2015 Ram Promaster van that apparently shares this part with Jeep. Part of the upgrade included the engine oil pressure sensor (926-188), engine oil coolant temperature sensor (part 926-427) and newer type filter.

Yes sir - just saw it on rock auto - will give that one a shot it’s a mopar part - the same part number from the dealer has been wrong both times they’re ordered it. Maybe this one is correct .. ( part number was same form dealer ) but same packaged and wasn’t be same connector )

Thanks guys! Got the part ordered for the mopar sensors we will see if it will work! If not, I’ll get the Dorman! The issue has been the mopar sensor has not been the correct connector on the sensor but the part number is correct, weird. We will try the one off Rock Auto.

Do we think the new Mopar Filter fixes the issue on the old one and may be superior to Dorman? - I want to change mine as I want my Engine to last my lifetime, and I feel that I am leaning on the new Mopar one.

Just did this on my JK and I used the upgraded Mopar plastic housing instead of the aluminum dorman that still uses the figure 8. The most common leak is the seals as long as you do your own oil changes and don't over torque the housing.

I used a cheap Amazon one and zero issues.
Just make sure to get a new oil pressure sensor!

I am in the process of getting rid of a bad oil leak at 18000 miles. I swapped the OE Oil cooler which was also the latest design to a Dorman and still have a bad leak . Going to investigat with some sort of scope a mechanic friend is coming with. Bad enough doing this once but twice in 4 days is getting old fast .

Whelp, seems like a different issue if leaking at same location but you have changed parts.

Seems like it may not be the cooler but it could be the seals got pinched on the install, that's pretty common unfortunately. Have you checked your rear main seal? Those are pretty common in JL/JTs, I've had mine changed 3 times under warranty.

I'd be thinking about using some leak detection dye and a UV light if it still seems to be happening.

I kinda ruled out rear main seal being I would think to pump out that much oil so quickly it would be under pressure . I ordered a new MOPAR OFA. If this fails I will take my chances with the dealer handling it.
