New to the forum and this is my first thread/question!
I bought My 21 Mojave and it had a Tazer mini already. Not sure if it was ever connected or married correctly but I’m trying to get it to work. I’ve updated the software and got that done with was a start.
The Tazer flashes green and red then flashes all green then once I try To find the Tazer menu, it goes all red. It’s connected via the 2 small SGW ports. But I still Have no communication with the Jeep. Can someone point me In The right direction??

thanks!

Welcome, from one new guy to another.
Sounds like a call to Z Automotive is your next step. It may be that your Mini is bad. They're not perfect. I installed mine on my '21 JTM in January and it does all i want it to, except it does not blank the license plate light in reverse as advertised. Otherwise , I love it. Good luck!

Yeah I’ve reached out to them through text and email and haven’t heard back yet. Thought I’d try here as well.
According the the interwebs, the device is working and updated, just not communicating for some reason. Thanks!

Z Auto took a long to get back to me with a question, but they did eventually respond. Hope it's a quick resolution for you.

The "text only" tech support is a drag....that said I finally got a few responses and solved my issue when I tried on a monday or tuesday during the day. I installed a Stinger Heigh10 radio and they don't like each other much and after remarrying the device I got in and out a couple times and then couldn't. They had me check the SGM fuse (F05) on my 2020 Gladiator Overland and it was good (I already had the radio fuse (F97) pulled during all this). I could not see any lights happening in my case but once I unplugged the MINI and plugged back in the lights flashed multicolor then green then red if I remember and then I was able to go into the menu. Make sure when you do anything including un/marrying you do the 2 sleep cycles and follow all directions for the Tazer meaning go to the "Audio" screen in your EVIC/cluster then HOLD the LEFT button down with left hand and press the cruise control CANCEL button with your right hand to bring menu up and go thru it.....also always make sure you're in RUN....if you have the vehicle started then that will get you into the live settings as well but you don't need the engine idling for the non-live features.

Edit: by the way this was my first post here too. Howdy all.

This was very helpful! Didn’t realize I had to be in the Audio screen to make the menu come up.
I think I’ve got the lite version because all the options that it gives me is “lightshow,Read DTC, Clear DTC, and reboot”. Bummer

If you think you got the LITE then when you connect it to your PC to do firmware etc there is a button you can request for a fee to upgrade to the MINI features. I wish I knew this before I bought my MINI and saved a couple 100 bucks or so because I had the LITE. Lucky I was able to at least sell it for a 100 bucks to someone else though.

Welcome!
Not trying to be mean here, but 95% of Tazer problems boil down to failure to read/follow the instructions. This clearly seems to be the issue here. First, not being in the proper screen, and now you don't realize there are submenus.
There are also different options depending on if the ignition in "run, with engine started" and "run, but engine not started". And this is the easy stuff. Most people mess up the REQUIRED reboot process. Remember, the computer in your jeep is not like your laptop or smartphone. It was not designed for the consumer to do what the Tazer does, so not everything is obvious or intuitive. This is not something you can just "figure out" as you go. I'm on my 5th tazer'ed vehicle, and I still print out the instructions, re-read them, and have them physically in my hands when I make changes.

You can get the directions HERE. The JL mini and the JL lite work the same way, the lite just has less options. If you aren't sure, print out the JL mini instructions first and start there.

Like @IamPro2A mentioned, following all instructions is key. While you may think it took the marry process, it sometimes doesn't fully.

I too had issues with the reverse lights, but after spending 25 minutes unmarrying then remarrying I learned I was not doing something exactly the way the instruction said, so I took extra time to ensure there wasn't a possible error, and so far I haven't had THOSE issues again.
- Other than sometimes the radio like to not boot past the Jeep logo. But a quick unplug of the Tazer, connection of SGW, radio power cycle, then swap everything again and boom, no issues.

If you think you got the LITE then when you connect it to your PC to do firmware etc there is a button you can request for a fee to upgrade to the MINI features. Getting the LITE doesn't save you any money if you pay the fee to get the full features later, it ends up costing the same. That $100 difference becomes moot when you pay the fee and the taxes make up the other $10 roughly. The difference is when you know you don't need or want the full features, that makes it more affordable.

I have a dilemma that some of you might have a solution for.
Here goes.
My center instrument cluster went black. I am concerned that somehow I accidentally put it in a "dark mode" or something similar.
I'd simply UNMARRY it, but that's pretty much impossible since the center instrument cluster doesn't light up. No way to even know which menu I'm in (1-8) , as in the required Audio menu.

I've had the Mini since 2021, and kept it thru 3 vehicles (1st a JT, 2nd a JLU, now a different JT). Have had to swap tire sizes countless times, set/defined quick keys for Backup Cam & Turn Loc on the right hand steering buttons, changed to & from Oracle light (ugh)... etc...

In other words I'm pretty comfortable moving thru the menus. However I can't help but wonder if I somehow stumbled across a button combination that blackouted out my Center Instrument Cluster.

Any advice is welcomed.

I've never used Dark Mode, but it is a live function, so simply unplugging the Tazer and reconnecting the SGW should test your theory. No need to unmarry. Also, Dark Mode is supposed to self-cancel when driving over 5mph, at least with the most current firmware. So simply doing that would not verify a Tazer failure, but it would at least verify if you did or did not accidently activate Dark Mode. Again, I don't use that feature so IDK if it behaves the same in earlier firmware revisions, but it would be the first and easiest thing to check.

Thanks. Based on what you said, my problem does not seem to be a Tazer Mini problem.

I've been driving it for a month now waiting for the Dealership to get the replacement Center Instrument Cluster. To complicate things, it is a candian model that had the speedo (on right) converted to MHP. The third party warranty coverage will only pay for a VIN matching Instrument Cluster that then will have to be converted from KPH to MPH, like my current one was. What a pain in the neck!
