figure i'm going to have to drill for the cable anyway, another 2 holes will simply be more reliable in the long run to have it bolted on rather than relying on the 3M adhesive. would rather not have to deal with an adhesive failure and camera hanging off the back of the camper in a few years.

can you share a photo of your set-up using the provided bracket and 3M adhesive?
That adhesive holds better than you’d think. It holds body panels onto cars. It is absolutely solid. To the extent that I had to take it to the body shop for bed repair and I had to leave the bracket on. It would have been too tough to remove it. Easier to just unbolt the camera from it. I have a soft topper, so mine is on the tailgate, but identical idea. Bracket is attached with 3m vhb. It will NOT move. Just remember to clean with alcohol first. Three pictures. One showing the bracket before attaching the camera.

And I’m using 3m for the front camera, which is upside down hanging under my bumper. Zero movement.

Nice. I thought about the same position for my rear that yours is in but I was running out of the provided adhesive pads. I went with the high mount so I could a good Birds Eye view of all the genius drivers on their cell phones right before they slam into the back of me.

If my topper was a hard top, I would have as well probably. On the other hand, the wiring goes into the tailgate following the factory wiring, so the top can come off without losing the camera.
