Statement: Jeep® Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator Fire Risk

June 9, 2026 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 1,076,999 U.S.-market vehicles to inspect, and if necessary, repair or replace the wiring harness and/or electric hydraulic power steering pump.

An internal investigation determined that certain model-year 2021-2025 Jeep® Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles may have an electrical connection issue in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. In rare circumstances, this may cause combustible materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire.

Out of an abundance of caution, FCA US is taking this action and advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained.

Affected customers will be notified by first-class mail when they can schedule service. FCA US is working diligently to accelerate remedy availability and anticipates a solution no later than July. The company urges owners to follow the instructions on their recall notices. Customers with additional questions or concerns can call customer care at 1-800-853-1403 or visit recalls.mopar.com for more information.

Additional vehicles will be subject to recall in Canada (est. 106,258), Mexico (est. 23,704) and markets outside North America (est. 124,297).

It will be interesting to see a description of the inspection they plan. Especially if only a very small percentage actually need repair parts. (Hopefully dealers will only fix those that need fixing, and not just see this as a way to bring in a little extra repair money from corporate.)

Finally got my new big battery. Now I can catch on fire like all the cool kids. I’m so excited!! They’re going to have to unwire all my wiring, including the CWMH (Christmas Wreath Master Harness!!) to get to the damn pump.

When I get home from this trip. I'm going to pull the plugs. Inspect them, then stuff them full of de electrical grease before I put the plugs back into place. Just like all the other plugs I did.

I’m about to do that with my glow plug wires in case that’s my issue. I’ll hit the pump too while I’m in there.

@Wolf Island Diver are you getting a check engine light? I got one about 2 weeks ago for the #4 glow plug but haven’t had time to look into it yet. Being summer hasn’t been high on my to-do list.

Yeah I do, but I don’t get a code that I can find with the Tazer other than the CHMSL.

edit: my odyssey battery died a few mints ago and I went through warranty hell. I was running on the old janky OEM sitting in my garage with all sorts of electrical problems. This is when the glow plug warning light started flashing on startup. With the new battery in, I’m still seeing the warning and check engine but no other symptoms. The warning temporarily went away with a Tazer clearing. I have read that bad taillights can cause a glow plug warning in other diesels and my CHMSL is dead. No idea if that true for the Ecodiesel.

I'm not getting the glow plug warning light. I'm getting the check engine light and P06BC (Cal 4 glow plug circuit range/performance) and P0674 (Cyl 4 glow plug circuit/open).

The glow plug warning is also a general fault warning as well. It can mean water in the fuel, etc. I’m not getting any specific codes. I’m going to replace the CHMSL and check wires before I go any further, but if you’re getting specific codes that’s different. Of course don’t ever discount battery voltage issues. I’ve never had a vehicle so sensitive to minor voltage issues and they manifest in unintuitive ways.

True. I haven't had any electrical issues/problems but I did wire up my winch thru a shutoff switch so maybe I’ll disconnect the winch and see if it goes away?
