Ugh. Wouldn’t one think that this is THE Launch Edition of your new vehicle that hasn’t been made since the 60’s that you would have it a little more together than this? If the only option is color they why don’t you pre make a shit ton of them in various colors so when they are ordered on your big special order day you could ship them out to the lucky buyers!!! Oh but I have a better idea, let’s make a bunch of regular pre-spec models to ship to the dealers so anyone can go buy one off the lot and make the people who ordered your special Launch Edition feel like WTH is going on?!?!

If they built all 4,190 LE Gladiators in 8 days it would exhaust all of the suppliers of the Rubicon specific parts. The have a certain mix that they want to maintain in order to keep their supply chains happy. While most of us are enjoying Easter with our families the workers at TAC will be building JLs and JTs for half of the day to keep up with the demand.

Just to add to this - the mopar insider stated that they had a letter from FCA that custom orders (launch editions were custom orders) would begin in April (they did) for production in June and delivery starting in July. I know everyone who paid over 60k for their truck wants it now and I get it I probably would too but the fact of the matter is you will see other civilians driving around with sports, over lands and yes even rubicons before your unit is even on the production line. Pre spec and Launch Editions are not the same and are not being made at the same time. Pre spec the factory chooses what to make without input from dealers or customers. They ship the pre spec to dealers to be sold on lots. Dealer orders and customer orders start after pre spec. Think about the Launch Edition's as the launch of custom orders because that is what they are. Sold LE's will be the first up in the custom order banks. They will be built with dealer orders. What mixture is up to the factory. Unsold LE's will wait until later but it has been said all will be built by the end of August.

Also for custom orders for any vehicle 6 to 8 weeks from order to deliver is common and expected.

Yes I understand that but isn’t the LE technically a pre-spec since you can’t change anything about the order except color and other than Granite Crystal, which now isn’t a late availability color, the others are the pre-spec colors anyway. Seems it would have been easy to pre make some LE’s in line with the other pre-spec. Then the pre-order day could’ve been a pre-reservation/sale day for say 50% and the other would be true sold orders.

Anyway, I’m good and looking forward to it’s arrival sooner than later. My concierge call was 10 mins into the call backs from the online reservation so hopefully I’m in the first wave of LE’s.

Yes I understand that but isn’t the LE technically a pre-spec since you can’t change anything about the order except color and other than Granite Crystal, which now isn’t a late availability color, the others are the pre-spec colors anyway. Seems it would have been easy to pre make some LE’s in line with the other pre-spec. Then the pre-order day could’ve been a pre-reservation/sale day for say 50% and the other would be true sold orders.

Anyway, I’m good and looking forward to it’s arrival sooner than later. My concierge call was 10 mins into the call backs from the online reservation so hopefully I’m in the first wave of LE’s.

They could’ve said we’re making 298 each black, white, silver, red, granite, and started pre building them, once ordering opened, if they ran out of the color you wanted, you have to pick a different color until all 1490 were sold. They would be getting ready to ship a bunch of launch editions now, instead of 3-4 months from now.

They could make all types of customer orders and store them in a lot hoping that someone sends in a custom order for them. Does that make sense to you? Or they can send those vehicles to dealer lots to be sold. A badge, a cover dash, some different wheels and the right to be at the front of the custom order line is all the LE is. The LE was marketing. It stated it was a pre sale. If you want the ones being built now they will be on dealer lots soon. If you see something on the lot you want buy it.

No technically color makes it custom.

Just called my dealer today and got them to send me my invoice. It has its VIN, build priority 01, and is labeled as Status-JB, which means it is getting the body bolted on right now. I suspect that I should be seeing it sometime in May or maybe June. I kind of lucked out being on the West Coast. I called the dealer at about 5pm PST 4/3 (close at 7 PM PST) and asked if they had more info about the Gladiator and they gave me quite a few more details on it other than what was just listed on the website. They then said the the ordering opened early (I guess because FCA didnt want to try and scamble early AM 4/4 to accommodate the East coast) and that I could order one if I came in or gave they my CC for a down payment. Drove in at 6pm and had my purchase at 6:30 pm PST.

I'm really hoping they'll be making the Sport soon... I'm itching to put my order in so I can transfer the guts of my 09 over. Did not want to order anything above that trim level as it would just be a waste (incl. automatic locks, windows, etc). Literally just want a base Sport + hard top as the only option.
