'SAVAGE-GEESE' is the owner of the thread title, I am simply borrowing it, because it's nearly perfect in describing one of todays Generations great dilemmas. And "You Guys & Gals" are the Parents.

*If I could get someone to download the April 26th Video (same title) from THE SAVAGEGEESE YouTube site it would make this Thread "worthwhile" -- I just don't have the savy . Without the video it's a pointless effort to bring the topic up!

I didn't want to "bury the topic" down at the bottom of the Forum Topics, so I chose the general section.
Full Disclosure - I am not affected by this "debt question," but I've certainly been there, done that, in the past, most of it in fact. It was the Navy that saved my ass, and a divorce that cemented my new found love of "saving & investing" vice spending foolishly on "wine, women & song"!
I was surprised by the sobering presentation and it added fuel to my already concerning attitude.
IF YOU HAVE FAMILY . . . You owe it to your self to AT LEAST give it a view. It may help shed some light for some who are not as fortunate as some others. TOO SERIOUS ? WANT MORE PLYWOOD FOLLY ? Sorry can't help you with that - that belongs to 5JeepsAZ, Stephen and one or 2 others - and a good job they do of it; I know I've been reading the "new" thread or 2 DEVOTED TO everyones getting their "woody"! See what I did ? :).

THERE YOU GO . . . START THE VIEWING - ON YOUR OWN OR HERE (if someone downloads it for me) and YOUR thoughts, concerns ? . . . who knows maybe a fellow member could get some good advice from a roundtable discussion ! ? Catch ya on the River .

for you sir.

with that said, I couldn't even finish it.
I do not want to listen to another millennial whiner about how he moved to a place with STUPID taxes while in debt and how rough his life is, ALL while wearing a Maserati hat and sitting on a Gladiator Tailgate.

I did some fast forwarding, one part I agree with is that the EPA has ruined the auto market. Just think of the cost that went in to the idiotic start stop system alone, and you start to realize why new cars cost so much, its not so much inflation or cost of new tech its the cost of engineering things to meet the EPAs ridiculous standards. I voted for trump because I thought he was going to disband the EPA but so far they are still here and still hurting the economy while saving the planet.

He has a lot of good points and it is a good watch. The reality of it is most of us can’t And shouldn’t afford a car payment of 600-1000$/month.

Also the reality that younger drivers are not wanting to start driving paired with over regulation will lead to a 2030 where it could be very likely it is illegal for you to take a motorized vehicle on public roads.

He's outraged about how inflation has driven the price of a Mazda 3 from $23k to $28k. sounds like a #realworldproblem. Cars and trucks over $35k aren't a neccessity, rather a luxury. If you can't afford to pay off the vehicle at the time of purchase or very soon there after, you should't buy it.

it's a self licking ice cream cone everyones wants higher wages which cause higher prices.... There are vehicles for every income level and you just have to get over having the latest greatest tech if you cannot afford it. The other guys have more discretionary spending for whatever reason and for example dumping 10k for mods into their car is their focus - giving up on things elsewhere in their lives - 401K? government should take care of that..... This entitlement (and socialist) thinking really chaps my ass

Well, thanks for the insightful photo . . . your research department continues to AMAZE ME !
Oh, and also thanks for being Apolitical (no vitriolic politics).

edit an hour or so later . . . As I keep scrolling back and forth trying to respond to you-guys, I keep seeing your photo of the WWII fisherman ! I NEVER got to know my biological father and for some reason every family member chose to keep it secretive . It wasn't until my mother passed (1983) that I had a nice long conversation with my Aunt (mom's younger sister) about Him . turns out He was a WWII Veteran and also found his way, via the Army, to Panama in '49-'50 . Home on Leave is when I was conceived (born in March '51), but he contracted Malaria and died before I was born. Your photo seemed to remind me of all that, simply because (so I've been told), dad loved to fish . Maybe I inherited His Fisherman-Gene ? Cause I've always loved fishing ! THANKS.;)

:LOL:I wasn't expecting, or aware that a thread could be "moved to another Forum"? do you mean another "section of this forum"? WHY ? Is it because a few select individuals chose to go the "politics route" to explain their frustrations about why the cost of vehicles is getting higher & higher ?
I like to keep things NON-Confruntational, and for the most part (so far) it's been "calm," but I see some folks have chosen to "reveal" points of view that may or may not differ from others. That is to be expected, after all we ALL have varying OPINIONS on just about everything there is to have an OPINION on !(?).

My intent for this thread was/is simply to bring to light (in the open), for SELF REFLECTION, what "the Goose" had to offer on HIS OPINION .
THIS Thread was/ is not intended to be a chastisement of the OPINION-ER or whatever his personal situation is . But, the "opinions," for the most part "bare-fruit" ! These are the Realities we ALL face . Sure he could of gone and done a 60 minute dissertation on "God knows what," other Info., but who would watch ? Who would digest it and consider it ?

So, let me continue to re-read you guys & gals OPINIONS, and Thank You ALL for expressing your thoughts . Some I whole heartedly DON'T agree with, some are "angry" because they don't seem to fully understand, comprehend and IMO don't seem to have done "the Research" to back the OPINION they've concluded .

NO, this is NOT a follow up to the 'Mueller Report'  :headbang: :swear:    :lipssealed: !

Thank you SandBaja, and welcome to the JT Forum, as a newbie, you may qualify for the Grand Plywood-Prize, but hurry in to your local plywood dealer before "THE END" to sign up.
Any further questions should be directed toward STEFFEN707 or "his gang" of "ply-woodies" !

And thank you too sir for posting . . . by the way "the Goose" also has a Good Review Video of the JT and also the JL ! Really . . . nothing remotely "insightful" ! ? . :headbang: :giggle:
Perhaps you could download the JT one for ALL of Us to Enjoy, over at the appropriate thread with all the other Video Reviews ! . Thanks, I'll be looking for it tomorrow . :like:

Just think of the cost that went in to the idiotic start stop system alone, and you start to realize why new cars cost so much, its not so much inflation or cost of new tech its the cost of engineering things to meet the EPAs ridiculous standards. I voted for trump because I thought he was going to disband the EPA but so far they are still here and still hurting the economy while saving the planet.
Last I checked (yesterday), despite all that the Trump administration has done to diminish the quality of life for all Americans, the undoing of many vital environmental safety measures - this is fact, not fiction and can readily be looked up, the "economic indicators" are at a 3.2% GDP ! However this is NOT, let me repeat . . . this GDP is NOT an indication that America has a growing vibrant middle class ! Now That is also NOT a "political opinion" of mine - simply FACT - again easily researched . I encourage EVERYONE to seek the truth, before spouting some things you've perhaps been incorrectly led to believe . . . over, and over, and over , and over . . . again . Just a General Suggestion to ALL, not a "slight" toward you or anyone .
Again, I try to keep things as apolitical as possible, not an easy task . Glad you mentioned "saving the planet" . . . that IMO, is the Conundrum of this Century ! My question is . . . how long will WE allow OUR politicians to keep "kicking the can" down the road ? To the point where there is no longer a road to travel ? Global warming - largely impacted by OUR activities, and Climate Change, a WEATHER phenomena impacted by the FACT that the Earth IS Warming - just another one of those FACTS easily available, if you want the TRUTH .
ALL of us SHOULD want the truth . . . this way we can "demand" our politicians "DO THE RIGHT THINGS" ! IMO, UNFORTUNATELY . . . Earth Day #1 was in 1970 (wow, 49 years ago - shit I really am old) and that was our "wake-up moment" ! But virtually no one was listening or cared to believe any of the "forward thinkers" ( I was concerned but felt ignorant and powerless and so I simply just carried on with my ignorance and kicked my can along like everyone else ).

Wow, I seem to of gotten "wordy" . . . let me stop here before I wind up with a Novella ! ? :lipssealed:

I can't get inside "Gooses" head . . but my takeaway, in some aspects, is more about his concern for People's ability to Cope with the "Cost of Living" / the Cost of being able to provide a "good life" for the Family . . . real dollars & sense (cents) issues - vehicles being just one .
