Last question, when you trade in a vehicle, doesn't the sales price of the new vehicle you buy get reduced by the trade in value? Thus reducing your sales tax on the new purchase?
I believe this depends on the state, but here in IA, yes your tax liability is decreased when you trade in.

Also, the taxes in a lease vary my state as well. Check out the leasehacker calculator, it has the info for each state at the bottom

I’ve been following this thread for a while now, and I might have missed it, but has anyone leased a Sport S yet now that they’re on the lots? I got a quote from a dealer near me that said they would do invoice on a Sport S they have on the lot. They quoted me a mf of .00196, and a residual of 76%. With 1300 down to cover fees, it still worked out to a $448 payment for 36 months and 10k miles per year. Does that sound about right? I guess with how they were originally talking about the high residuals I was thinking it would be a little better than that. I read the Ally residuals and they were at 78% for 36 months. This one was with Chrysler Capital, and they said that the Ally one would be significantly more. This is the first time I’ve ever considered a lease, and I’ve been learning a lot, but I don’t want to make a mistake and take a bad deal just because I’m willing to pay it. (I guess if it’s something I’m willing to pay that makes it a good deal though. It’s all so subjective)

What was the purchase price? Tax rate in your state? Which state are you in?

I think my quote with Spencer was like $425 per month on a pre-spec sport s with only 24 months. 36 months would be less.

Chance, I’m in Ohio, and the local tax rate is 7.75%, I believe. Purchase price was invoice on a 46,405 MSRP. I’m not sure exactly what they were using as invoice, as it was just a hand written summary without the actual purchase price listed.

Steffen, who is Spencer? I can’t remember. That’s much closer to what I was expecting. With money down, I was hoping to be under 400.

Edit: Is that Spencer of Motor Inn?

yeah, 36 month is the sweet spot. you'll probably want to take a pre-spec, but his pricing should get you below $400s I would think.

Spencer, why would you get a better lease on a pre-spec than an custom order?

At time of order I cannot protect your rate or residual from any changes that occur between date of order and date of delivery. Therefore I can NOT guarantee you what your rate and residual will be which means I cannot tell you what your payment will be.

It may not change, but in my experience that is highly unlikely.

Yeah mine is like 780 i think.
Not saying the comments are wrong, and you'll probably still get best pricing, but credit score ranges vary depending on where they're running it through (Equifax, Transunion, Experian). They no longer go up to just 850. Some go as high as 9-950, meaning a 730 score is no longer considered excellent across the board.

yeah I think mine is 780 on experian, but you're right, its different from all 3. I thought all 3 only go up to 850 but some credit card companies will show your psudo fico as high as 900-1000.

I dunno anymore.

So I saw this on one of the local dealer websites for everyone's viewing pleasure. Never seen a required minimum credit score this high:
