So what is the "right" way to latch it? Hopefully it's not too hard to explain.
They gave us a video to show customers that I can't post on here. Basically you have to line up these inner tabs with the lip on the bottom of the cover. Once those tabs are lined up correctly, you should be able to fold it down snuggly. Then you close the bed.

It actually does lock. there is a red pull strip underneath that has to be pulled once tailgate is open to release locking of it. and it is indeed weather proof, been through a ton of rain recently down here in NW Arkansas, and not moisture inside at all!
HOT FUDGE! DOES NOT LOCK! i'll find the link and post it.

EDIT: I guess i would say it clicks into place, but anybody can undo it at anytime, therefor I wouldn't call it a "lock" or "locks in place".

I have also heard users on fb state that even the weekend warrior position does lock if it is closed properly. Maybe one day I will get mine so I can test it. Haha.

WEIRD! i guess its possible that the dealer didn't close it properly, :CWL::CWL::CWL::CWL:

but i really don't see any mechanism that is pushed/triggered to keep the tonneau on when the gate closes.

Here is the video I was referring to. He explains on the fb thread that after push down on that spot once closed it will click and be locked. He posted a video but I can’t upload it here because of file type.

@BestopTeam What's this mystery spot you push on to make this lock? Is this for-rizzle?

Exactly right....you push to click then it is locked in place.....as to the comment about sticking your fingers under it, haven't tried it, nor do I plan to.....all I do is roll it back in place, push to click lock it, close tailgate, hit the lock button on fob and walk away...

I Literally posted pictures of the user instructions from right off the truck & they didn’t show anything like that - I walked up, opened the tailgate & saw only the rubberstrip that goes against the tailgate. Lifted that last section (step 2 in instructions) so It appeared nothing else held it in place. Closed the tailgate back- that’s when I forced the last section back open - wasn’t hard at all.
BUT if there is a mechanism that locks the hinge like you say it hat would be much better. Guess they didn’t want to add more pictures to the instructions?

Was that the tri-fold or the roll up cover? @IceAge has the tri-fold I believe.

This is the cover I'm looking for. The hard trifold is really nice too, but man almost $1000!
Right too much money IMO unless your parking your Jeep overnight in lousy neighborhoods and or have valueless in the back a lot.

Just remember that with a pick up the bed is your trunk. And I think all trunks should be able to be securely locked for anything you might want to put in there regardless of its value.
