So i just got a Gladiator Overland in houston texas. I was looking for one that had the adaptive cruise control, and those are hard to come by in texas, had to go out to a dealership in sealy about 40 miles away.

Anyway, the car is awesome, the dealer put some 35x12.5 bfg mud tires on it, and they appear to fit without rubbing on the stock setup. If anyone knows where i should be looking to make sure they are not rubbing, i would be keen to know. I thought i had read that 35's needed the rubicon, but there are a couple forum entries where people seem to be getting 35's on. I dont have the wider max tow axles, i dont think that was available on the overland.

But i did have a really troubling thing happen in a parking lot. I backed out of the spot, put it in drive, and the car kept jamming on the brakes, and telling me to shift into park and then into gear. I repeated this 3 or 4 times, and it just wouldnt budge, now people are getting stuck behind me. I finally notice the door open indicator is on, open and close the door, shift into park and then into drive and off i go. But i tried to reproduce this at home later, and it didnt seem to do it again with an open door. can anyone tell me what happened? and how to turn that off?

I also had a bizarre usb issue, where i plugged in a usb drive to usb1 while my phone was already serving android auto on usb2. This caused the usb plugs to all quit. The source menu would show USB1 in non-greyed out text, acting like it had something plugged in, and usb2 and usb3 greyed out. At this point nothing was plugged in. I had to reset UConnect and then wait a few hours and it sorted itself out. Very scary.
But now android auto is working great, i am going to not use the usb for media for now, as i can just put the music on the phone anyway.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500. This truck will not allow you to pull forward/reverse if the door is open. This was a new (annoying) safety feature put into place because of apparent incidents where people were hurt or damage by having the door open while moving. I have no idea if this is what you experienced or if it is even a feature on the Jeep. Sorry no real help but wondering out loud if this could have been the case? Also check and make sure all sensors on bumpers and camera behind rearview mirror are clean and free of debris.

To answer #1, if you were rubbing while driving you would know, it's hard to miss. But turn the wheel hard in both directions and see what the clearances are. Typicall you would rub against the bumper or inner fender somewhere, or top fender when going over a bump

#2 you have a safety feature. If a door is open and you are going under a certain speed (not sure what that is) the rig will shift into park automatically. Sounds like you triggered that

i think its got to have been the door, but when i tried it again i couldnt get it to do the same thing. I am going to go and try harder. it was really alarming because it wasnt saying anything on the dash like "Your door is open you moron". Just the tiny little indicator. now that i know what happened its fine. I guess i need to read the manual front to back so i dont get caught unaware.

Were the 35" tires installed on the stock overland 18s? Any pictures?

The owners manual has speed at 1.2 mph, goes into “auto-park”... peaky safety feature

Yup. That is Auto-Park.
Here is another thread about it: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/autopark-feature.18380/

EDIT: Congrats on the purchase by the way!

I guess ill ask....how does this work when you take the doors off??
Found this in the manual (p271-273).

Some notables points:
  • AutoPark will engage ONLY when vehicle speed is 1.2 mph (2.0 km/h) or less.
  • If vehicle speed is above 1.2 mph (2.0 km/h), the transmission will default to NEUTRAL until the vehicle speed drops below 1.2 mph (2.0 km/h). A vehicle left in the NEUTRAL position can roll. As an added precaution, always apply the parking brake when exiting the vehicle.
  • 4WD Low does disable AutoPark.
  • Driver door is ajar or in conditions where driver door is removed an additional trigger would be if the driver is off
the seat (seat pad sensor detects driver missing)

That is irritating (auto-park). Apparently FCA engineers have never hooked up a trailer with the door open. The seat pressure sensor makes much more sense than the door ajar sensor. (SMH)
