Now that some of you are getting your manual Gladiators, has anyone tried towing something like a camper trailer? I'd be curious what your real world impressions are if you have. I don't tow often but when I do I'll be flirting with that 4000 lb limit with the manual (though admittedly on mostly very flat terrain).

Haha fun this came up last night the curiously was killing me so I had nothing going on and the wife was out of town so I figured I would do a little test pull with the camper and go to a local establishment for some dinner. Sorry no pics.. may try and hook up snap on on break.

Camper details
14' pop-up
unloaded weight 2685 lbs
Currently still packed from last trip less food and water in tanks.
Approximate load out weight 3100#

My personal evaluation is the truck and trans handle the load just fine. The low first gear made it easy to get rolling. Was a bit of a learning curve to hit the proper shift points loaded so I was regularly under reving and short shifting. Still it handled the load fine with the human error. The trailer felt good pulling. The suspension I feel handled the load better than the Silverado though I still wasn't fully loaded so this could change. Under braking the trailer did push and I do have a brake controller on the way. This is my biggest haul I do and usually only a couple times a year so after reading on controllers I opted for a time delay and plan to get it turned in and hide it tucking it up in a cavity under the dash.

My towing was about 8 miles of curvey, hilly, and uneven county roads. Over the bumps and around the corners I felt really confident pulling. Up the hills depending on how much I was babying it I would run 4th or 5th. I don't feel like I was lacking power on the hills. Again this may change once fully loaded.

Over all I'm pleased and feel confident in the truck to handle the job and don't foresee any issue pulling. I did a bunch of math this morning researching the capacity of the truck and trailer combo and in my case I should be good.

Does the manual come with the off-road plus button or is that just for autos?

Thank you! i hope i don't get the dreaded ZA
No problem! I saved as soon as I found the code list on another thread. Knew it would come in handy.

Haha...Hopefully no one gets ZA without electing to do so!

I hope I do. Put an end to this travesty and I can start over.
Sounds like our build are almost the same minus minor differences and i ordered a little after you and i am still waiting as well. Seams like the more option you got the longer you have to wait for some reason

Awesome thanks! Also, dealer told me my estimated ship date is for 8/17. That seems a bit fast doesn't it?
Estimated ship date means that’s when they actually start to build the rig.

Yeah. Confounding since there are tons of loaded up automatic Rubis. There are lots of Sport and Overland manuals floating around. I can't pin down what the losing combination is. Something to do with manual Rubis, but it can't be just that. I looked in proximity to my dealer and there are 6 manual Rubis in transit.

At this point, I'd just love for them to can my order. I asked Jeff if canceling was possible, but Jeff hasn't gotten back to me in a couple days. Took Jeff 6 days the first time to send me a different cut and paste letter back. Since Jeff is now on the case, chat can no longer tell me anything. It's probably intentional sandbagging hoping they'll be building it before I get through a conversation with them.

Not sure what's next. I know I'm slowly going from bummed out to ready to walk completely, as I see people getting non LE Granites, Sting Grays showing up, Punk'n orders going into production status. 82 days into my "I'll order one of the readily available ones to get one sooner" plan, and not even scheduled for build. The whole point of having done it the way I did is essentially gone.

Asked for help and information and got perfunctory form letters from Jeff. No last name. Just Jeff.

Starting to incite my Irish, and if that gets going, I'll avoid Jeep on principle no matter how much I like them. I've gotten along just fine in GM products. Not as fun as this would be, but just fine. I have a paid off 3 year old truck with 33,000 miles on it and 2 years of drive train warranty left. I'll be ok.

looks like rubicon/manualtrans/saddle leather is the black sheep of the Jeep JT family.

23R 6spd
Firecracker
Saddle leather
tonneau cover
cargo group
wireless speaker
trail cam
body color top/flares
Led lighting
trailer tow

I guess the adage holds true. save the best for last. to my early order family; hang in there.
