I have it and it drives me crazy that it doesn't work with the tailgate. I always go to the tailgate first. I end up taking out my key half the time anyway.

It's going to be a lot more difficult to cut into the JT soft top. It's just awkward. I actually lock this Jeep and I never locked my Wranglers with the soft top.I didn't add it to my JL, because I have a soft top on most of the year, and it is pointless to lock the doors with a soft top. Not sure if I will order it when I buy a JT, as I might keep the hardtop on more.
Do you like those mirrors? Where'd you get them?I completely agree with this. I did not order this "upgrade" because I thought to myself "Oh whatever, it's a Jeep". But yeah, it would def be nice to have. However, to get around it I have found a solution that makes me feel 1000X better.

These are from a Harley Davidson sportster. I bought them in 2012 on eBay for my JK and I loved them. They are starting to rust some now and I decided to go all out and order the CMM ones. Super expensive, but they look awesome and I think for the Gladiator they will fit in perfect.Do you like those mirrors? Where'd you get them?
There are different versions of these on most Jeep aftermarket shops. Quite common. And if you wheel, a second set on the lower hinge bracket pointed at your rear tires is a help. Nice to know where your rubber is making contact. These are from a Harley Davidson sportster. I bought them in 2012 on eBay for my JK and I loved them. Interesting! I 100% would expect it to work with the tailgate. That is frustrating. With our Grand Cherokee, well use the proximity feature with our hands full to toss things in the back. Sure, we can use the fob hatch release, but I am disappointed to hear it won’t work for the tailgate on the JT.I have it and it drives me crazy that it doesn't work with the tailgate. Don’t you just walk up to the driver or passenger side door and touch the handle so it’ll unlock all the doors like the GC does? If you can hit the lock/unlock button then you can access the tailgate, what I just said would work. If not, that’s totally crazy!Interesting! I 100% would expect it to work with the tailgate. Hold my beer!Holy sh!t, dude! A rope swing?!
Yes, you can walk up to the driver's side door and unlock everything including the tailgate, but I can't go directly to the tailgate and open all the doors or even the tailgate. So, I either get the key out, or walk to the front of the truck to then walk back around to the tailgate to put my files (or whatever I want to put in there) into the truck. It's a first world problem, but it does drive me a little crazy, especially when it's raining.Don’t you just walk up to the driver or passenger side door and touch the handle so it’ll unlock all the doors like the GC does? it works with the tailgate, if you unlock from the passenger side. I have to walk around mine to get in, so I just touch the front side passenger handle as I walk by. Everything unlocks and I have access through all the doors and the tailgate. If you unlock from the driver side, it only unlocks the driver door. The only time I have to take fob out of my pocket is to unlock the gas cap.I have it and it drives me crazy that it doesn't work with the tailgate. I always go to the tailgate first. It does not work with the tailgate. My driver's side unlocks all doors. I have it set that way in the settings because I want the door to unlock for my wife and kid too. I'm strictly talking about walking up to the tailgate before walking up to any door. I don't want to unlock the tailgate using the driver's side door. I just want to pull the handle on the tailgate.it works with the tailgate, if you unlock from the passenger side. Okay, so you're asking for something they don't offer. Proximity only works with the two front door handles, and you also want it to work with the tailgate handle. That makes the tailgate more expensive, and requires more wiring. I don't see it happening. Walk a few extra steps and touch the door handle, or fumble with the fob to unlock the tailgate.
