I will never understand why people won't just give it a chance.
I gave it a chance...and I think it really depends on where/how you drive as to if it's helpful or annoying. I don't drive in a lot of stop/go traffic. Much more rural. So when mine does kick in..it's for only a second or two at a stop sign. That can't be beneficial for anyone or anything. I do have the tazer...and honestly..I do find myself turning it back on when I'm city driving and sitting at lights for extended periods of time.

I'm waiting on a 2021 model because I'm poor and broke and can't afford a 2020 right now  it would be nice if they added some better features. So we're guessing October 2020 when the 2021 will open for order?

I doubt you will see any significant changes in the 2021 version. But, if you are worried...just wait.

My biggest fear is the first year production of the new model. I have had not pleasant experience already.

I bought a 2020 so I would be on pace to buy a 2027 later. And it was just too cool not to.

Disabled ASS with https://www.smartstopstart.com although I do kick it on sometimes at long poorly timed lights in my suburb. With Smart Stop Start you just are in control, no auto-reset every time you cycle the iginition.

I get it...but not totally a first-year model since most of it is from the JL.

I'm wanting to get into one bad and trying to figure something out but unfortunately just can't pay $45-$50K for a truck currently. But I am afraid they will raise the prices even more on the next years models to come.

Hello everybody!
Are there any news /rumors what can possibly be new/fixed in model 2021?
I really want that auto-shut-down feature to be optional or gone. Not a big fan of the holes between fenders and body, which are gaping when front doors are removed. Etc. etc. etc.
Highly doubt there will be any changes for 2021. However even the things you point out aren't really issues and will more than likely be part of 2021 model.

Auto start/stop is here to stay . FCA isnt the only manufacturer who has and is doing this. people complain about Auto start/stop but there is a button to disable it. Now that I would expect to see gone in the future then folks will really bitch. If you like the vehicle as is, get i . When they decide to change things up I guarantee there will be something you dont quite like. So pick your poison. You can buy now or continue to sit on the sidelines waiting to see if they fix all the things you want addressed.

So then based on your experience you answered your own question, whether to wait or buy now.

If you have anxiety over a first year model then dont do it. Like someone mentioned this isnt a typical launch vehicle. Wrangler and Ram truck share a lot of what makes up the gladiator. The engine is not new by a longshot.

This is a YOU decision and we can only offer opinions. Ultimately it's what direction you feel comfortable going in.

Frankly, I personally don't see much of a downside to waiting. No one thinks much on the truck will change, I doubt the price paid will be significantly different than now. A trailer brake controller should be in the offing, and maybe a few other enhancements, who knows. Most colors will likely be repeated.

That said, if you choose to wait until the 2021s are first released, expect to pay a bit more for it than if you wait until later into the model year.

At least we have the option to disable it on the JT or JL... "With the push of a button"
The majority of vehicles with this function can't be turned off with a switch...
My first vehicle with this function, 2012 BMW, it had to be programmed out..
It's interesting if you read all the conditions where the Jeep disables the Start Stop function automatically..
Engine temp, cold or hot, outside temps, A/C and heating demands, and more..

If we follow the path of the JK Wrangler, I wouldn't expect major changes to the JT other than power plant changes...
Obviously the diesel will be an option..
Expect the Plug in Hybrid as Jeep has already said will be available on all models by 2022...
Possibly changes to the 3.6 PS...
Maybe some mid model interior changes like the 2012 JK...
If we want to see the price hold on the JT, we shouldn't expect a lot of costly manufacturing changes.

I personally would like to see all options made available for all the trims..
We have already seen some added, which is nice to see.
