I think the title of the thread is pretty much the point of the thread.

Thoughts, please.

Thanks

Yes you should join. They will send you a packet of stuff from Jeep and it will in title you to get 4 free oil changes and 4 tire rotations plus they will replace your key fob I think it’s up to 3 of them they will also email any new news from Jeep and I can’t remember what else

Well shoot. I signed up and never got a "packet of stuff". Perhaps it takes longer than a month to receive?

The free oil changes sounded appealing at first. But I've seen numerous dealer horror stories on this forum. I thinking I'll just change my own oil, thank you.

The stuff was Jeep stickers and some other stuff on Jeep maybe should have said that instead of package and also if a dealer does your oil changes always check it out when they are done

I will be passing. I don't trust any of the dealers around me to do either oil changes or even tire rotations. :)

6 weeks here, or roughly that.

Think about all of the good stories you DO NOT hear because no one goes and joins a forum and says gee, our dealers do a superb job on oil changes, I'm just thrilled. Forums are where people go to gripe in most cases. So the horror stories are a minority, rare cases. My wife has had the dealers do hers on her GCs for years - mostly because it's far cheaper than I could do it - and I can make more money in my shop doing higher end stuff than messy oil changes and then disposing of the oil and filters and cleaning up. I can make twice as much in that time. She buys the packages and gets it all done pretty cheap.
I just can't beat it - and they've never messed up.
Basing whether or not dealers do fine on oil changes by visiting a forum is like judging the health of humanity by visiting a hospital or the ability of our military by visiting the VA hospital. You see the worst - the few who have had issues. Not the majority who don't have issues.
For me - it's trust but verify. I'll hang a note on the oil fill cap clearly marked "Please Read the Book - FIVE QUARTS".
And I'll look at the paperwork after - and if it says 6 quarts - I won't leave.

Ya know you can say that about ANY PLACE - the quick lube, anyone, any place. Stuff happens, but our experience with dealer oil changes and tire rotations has been good. It's other stuff that at times isn't so great (sales experiences)

A buddy of mine worked at a local full-service Philips 66 station back when we were both going to college. A guy came in with a 78 Corvette Anniversary Edition that was about 2 years old and wanted the oil changed. When he picked up the car he made it about 5 miles before the engine seized up. My friend forgot to put the oil in after he changed the filter.

Poop happens, surprisingly he wasn’t fired.

Ah, but what about DRIVER RESPONSIBILITY - didn't see the gauge or light?

We had a Ford pickup brought in, boss towed it in, the owner insisted his insurance would cover the blown engine because he hit a rock on the road and ripped a hole in the oil pan.
So we fixed it - and presented the bill - he presented the bill to his insurance - which DECLINED to pay - "owner is responsible for the engine, we'll take care of the pan - owner continued to drive with no oil pressure".

We knew that was going to happen. Had he STOPPED and called us, we'd have replaced or repaired the pan, put oil in it and he'd been reimbursed for the repairs and towing and owned nothing. In the end, he had to pay for all but the pan itself.

I erased the email. Was it like $150 a year?

That is awesome. I just signed up. I used the dealer for 4 free oil changes on my Grand Caravan without issue so I have no worries there.
