Every time I see that rack, it reinforces my desire for it. It's looking like my JT purchase is going to be delayed for a while (selling/buying a new place so that's all gotta shake out), so the wait doesn't affect me. I would wait if I had to, though!

The factory tonneau is a NO-GO at this time, but we will have several aftermarket tonneau options. Facts of the matter:
* The factory tonneau occupies the mounting space for our bed rack.
* When two parts compete for the same space, one must go or be modified.
* Our Bed Rack mounting method is beautiful and capable of supporting heavy loads - we aren't changing it.

I can say two things about any rack that works with the factory tonneau.
1. The mounting system will look funky
2. They will only be able to support a fraction of the weight compared to ours.

I like what you're doing and understand your need to focus on the existing rack design.

In the future you should be able to design and produce a bed cover using the full-length side mounting hardware used in your rack. A segmented panel system like a Bakflip or a rollup cover or even a soft roll up cover would be a fantastic addition to your rack design.

I strongly second that. I’ve been looking for same thing. A rack like this that can also be closed off with fabric all around and I guess solid top. Accessories to carry kayaks, bikes, etc.

Ok, so hear me out....
I love the rack and the curved corners. How about creating channels on the sides and rear to slide in fabric panels and a modular full solid roof!!! so you can put cross bars on top, zip or slide in/out panels to enclose for a rainy camping weekend or leave open according to need.

I have been looking for a combo of soft topper and rack and they all look mad max, or don't operate unless completely dismantled, etc.. I just wanna take my dogs now and then and I can't be alone in that!!

Can I get a second on that? Anyone?

I dont want to play fanboy here, but Maximus-3 did say they are already working on some ideas for a cover on the rack. Judging by how refined the prototype looks, I can only imagine how far the finished product will be advanced over it.

i just experienced my first modern ice fishing shanty, made with 300 Denier fabric. If Maximus-3 makes the cover out of something that tough or tougher, they'll have something sweet. Of course in black or army green, not red. :fingerscrossed:

Just buy one of these racks and put it on a PLYWOOD frame so you can play with it until you can buy a JT.

This rack looks amazing! Will it work with the OEM roll up bed cover? Estimated/Updated timing?

I’m tempted. It has given me some DIY-deas (sadly, not plywood), but I’m eager to see what Maximus-3 comes up with first. ;)

Thanks @Gecko-JKU, we are working on several cover options to give the people what they want. Also the production model is even better than the prototype. We will be releasing new photos ASAP.
