My Bestop Sunrider arrived several days ago and despite winter in New England not being quite over, I installed it today. Above all else I'm impressed at the quality of this product. I ordered mine with the twill fabric option, and it didn't disappoint - it is premium. Instructions were clear; bolts had thread lock pre-applied; fitment was nicely tight (almost so much that it took a little fiddling to get things seated just right). Before tightening things down, make sure the locator pins drop into the locating holes just right. It might take some pushing and persuading. Happy to see bolts are mated to molded-in metal inserts, not plastic. I took a ride at 70+ mph with the top closed up and it's very quiet. Haven't done the rain test yet. Best feature in my opinion is I can flip the top up/down at a stop light without even unbuckling my seat belt. I have no affiliation with Bestop, just saying I can honestly give this product a flat out stellar recommendation.

Well this is a little disappointing.

After waiting a couple months for my $100 rebate for the Sunrider top, I recently checked the status online it said a response had been mailed out.

Today I receive it, but it's not a rebate; it's a letter saying the rebate has been declined.

Reason stated is because I didn't submit my original UPC, but instead submitted a copy.

Since I had no way of knowing the required UPC was part of the original box, I recycled the box. I happened to take a photo of the package when it arrived, clearly showing the UPC.

I called the rebate company and explained, and told them I have a photo clearly showing the required label. They said stuff like this happens all the time, just send us what you've got, leading me to believe everything should be fine. I included the 8.5 x 11 photo prominently showing the entire UPC label in the foreground, as well as a copy of the packing slip showing date of purchase.

I still love this product and highly recommend it. I'd just like to get the rest of what was promised.

Bestop, is there anything you can do to help? I understand rebates are handled by a third party. In your experience if they do resolve this is there another lengthy wait? Do you know how they typically authenticate purchases when no original UPC is available?

"Rebate requests submitted without the original UPC BAR CODE label will be rejected (example shown to the right). "
There is a good reason that we need the original in cases of rebates, it's not us or the rebate company being picky. I would suggest also working with our Customer Service team, they are great to work with and that is where I would send you to continue the conversation. Their number is 800-845-3567 and are in the office between 8am-5pm Mountain Monday through Friday.

Hi Lee - thanks for the response. I realize the form specifies the original UPC must be included, but in my case (which I doubt is unusual) I recycled the box before downloading and reading the rebate form.

I have no doubt there's good reason to want the original UPC (fraudulent rebate claims, I'd guess, especially when digital copies can be manipulated) but surely there must be ways to authenticate a legitimate purchase without the UPC, at least with enough evidence.

I just called your Customer Service again (the reps have been great) and will work with them to resolve this. I still have hope that I'll eventually get the rebate I was promised. I'm a long-time Bestop customer and your products have never let me down.
