As soon as I heard manual transmission ordering was back open in March, I tried to order a M/T overland with the popular equipment package, but the dealer tried and couldn’t order either a sport s or overland with 8.4” Radio/premium audio group, or the popular equipment package which contains the 8.4” for the overland. They say the can order the manual transmission for any model, the system just won’t let them choose the 8.4” or any package that comes with it. It does appear to be available for the rubicon no problem. I’ve tried multiple dealers just to make sure.

does anyone have any insight into why this would be? the 8.4” is not a dealbreaker, but the popular equipment package on the overland makes it a great deal and I’m willing to hold out if I knew it would be available soon. I just don’t want to wait forever if it’s not going to be a thing.

Thanks for any info!

@JeepCares , do you guys have information regarding the availability of the popular equipment package and/or 8.4” screen for a manual transmission overland? None of our local dealers have any idea why it’s not available or when it will be.

Thanks!

My Overland has the 24G package which includes the automatic transmission as part of the package with the 8.4 in screen , that may be why.

The Overland is more the Luxury model of the JT lineup. I don't think Jeep really intended for it to be sold with a MT, or expected people choosing that model to want a MT. The 'luxury' style options, like remote start, require an automatic transmission.

Many other "luxury" options can be included.

When I ordered my Overland (with MT), the dealer told me the same thing - I could not get the 8.4 radio. This did not bother me, as I do not care for the 8.4 features.

I do not know, but I suspect that it has to do with availability of specific combinations of parts.

Just updating this in case anyone else is curious about that package. Based on the latest 2021 ordering guide, the 8.4 inch screen is not available for sport S and Overland with manual transmission. They made it explicit in the order sheet whereas it just wasn’t available for the 2020s and no one knew why. The popular equipment package for the manual transmission and overland should be available based on the ordering sheet, it comes with the premium audio just not the 8.4 inch screen.

I think the sport S popular equipment package comes with the 7” instead of the 8.4” screen, and I believe they made the 7” screen standard on the 2021s so the 2021 popular equipment package seems to have the remainder since the 7” screen is now included. So unless you were expecting the 8.4” you should be in good shape. If you were, I’d call the dealer to confirm what your getting.

Thanks. I had conflicting information from two dealers. They said the 8.4 was not available unless I got the upgraded radio package which was a lot. But the web site only showed 5” and 8.4 yet he spoke about a 7”. I’ll call to confirm. I hope there is not much difference between the 7” and 8.4”.

For me the only difference is the navigation on the 8.4. I could not get it with MT on my Overland, but did not care, since I did not want to pay $1800 for navigation.

My 7" came with a year of Sirius, which is nice, and it pairs with my phone, so I can now make hands-free calls while driving.

Yeah I found that many dealers were unaware that the 8.4” is unavailable with MT for sport/overland. it was available up until about January or February 2020 . It’s FCA‘s fault, they don’t tell anyone, you just can’t order it if you try and no-one knows why. Atleast now the 2021 order sheet on the forum shows that. I find that many people here on the forum know more than sales ppl at dealerships.
