Relocate 12V Power plug to make room for a brake controller.

After going down the rabbits' hole of brake controllers, I think I have finally settled on the Curt Spectrum (now that the correct harness is out). At least that is my decision as a write this lol.

That said since the Gladiator did not also put a 12V in the armrest I really want to install the Brake controller in the 12V spot AND move power someplace else. Can't go without any 12V.

Has anyone done a clean swap / relocation here that they would recommend?

Yea...that is probably what I am going to end up doing as well. Lots of places to install the Curt.

When (if) the Mopar Controller is available (82215652) it too will be installed left of the steering wheel. I'm holding out so that it can be dealer installed and therefore should be covered by warranty.

I keep hearing about it being to the left of the steering wheel but I can never get their photo to align with that concept. The molding in the photo looks (to me) that it is clearly taking the 12V spot.

That said...a lot could change since the original photo shoot.

That was my plan, and I held out for a long time. I have been watching the Curt Spectrum on Amazon for over six months. Not too long after the Gladiator harness became available, the price dropped to $135 for the controller. I went ahead and ordered it. Now, I just need to find some time to get it installed.

Yeah, they're showing a month out. Maybe the price will come down when they get back in stock. I hurried and ordered when I saw the price drop. I had never seen it that low and was afraid it was a mistake and the order would get cancelled.

Have you considered the Curt Echo? I have one and like it. Works great. No install issues whatsoever because it’s Bluetooth.

I have one too and it works great. Easy solution to the problem. Seems a little long and flimsy, but has not fallen out Has hole to zip tie just in case. You get instant notice on phone if it does come out. I stretched it too far moving from hitch while still connected.

Thought about it. I was going to go with something more permanent if I could. I also didn't want to have to use the app on the phone. I heard it has come a long way as far as reliability.

im pretty sure it’s going in the 12V outlet spot. All of the early pictures showed t there, and if you look at the sales order guide, it says under Smokers Group that it’s not available with the brake controller. Makes sense because if the 12V outlet was gone, there would be no place for the lighter to pop into.

You might be best off finding another spot for the knob. This little spot worked great for my Redarc. Pretty well protected from the elements as well. Really happy I didn't wait on the factory one and wish I had done this 6 months ago.
