Yeah I screwed up. The listing I first found on OVS site included all the walls with the awning. That is priced $1599
Later on I saw just the awning listing for $899
Damn fake news..........

interesting the fabric types are all different standards - any idea which is the most stout? I'm seriously considering the OVS based on features and price...
I was under the impression that the higher the number, the thicker the material. At least with the 600D and 280D numbers. But I can't imagine the alucab is the thinnest material? I know tents have similar varying ratings too.

The D stands for denier, the g or GSM is for grams per square meter of material. I would be shocked too, but it seems like the Alu-Cab may be thin in material. That has advantages and disadvantages of course.

The OVS is cool, but I wish it wasn't gray. I wanted tan, green, brown, something "earthy". And I think ovs use to be in green, so chances are it won't be green again for some time.

I'll probably get the gray OVS, then in 18 months they'll have a tan/brown one, i'll sell the gray one for like $500 off, and then have way more into my awning setup than I wanted.......such is life!

The higher the denier, the thicker the thread used. It's actually the weight of the thread (in grams) per several thousand meters but can't remember the exact length.

Lower denier will be thinner, lighter material that is more naturally waterproof because thinner threads allow for a tighter weave. On the other hand, larger denier is going to be more abrasion resistant, less susceptible to tears, and fare better in wind at the cost of weight.

@steffen707 what are your reasons for leaning towards the AluCab awning vs. the OVS awning other than you don't like the gray color?

Well I haven't made up my mind yet. Pros for the alucab, I think the arms are stronger, better squared off coverage around back of vehicle, material not gray.

OVS, cheaper, more overall coverage, USA based, not sure if made in USA.
