My dream shot, my Gladiator on the beach with wild horses in the shot. If you look on the dune in front of my Jeep, there is a pair of wild horses.

And not to mention the fillies above the hood. ;-) Sorry, couldn't resist. But, catching horses with rigs is cool. Here are a couple shots I've gathered over the years overlanding North America ...

Hen Egg Road near Terlingua, TX ...

The road to Tatahatso Point on the edge of Grand Canyon National Park, AZ (sadly, the Navajo Nation no longer issues permits for traveling and camping there) ...

Horses near Bluestem Lake, OK ...

Bison are also cool to catch. Here, at the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, OK/KS border ...

And then you can get really exotic with muskox, along the Dalton Highway, north of the Brooks Range, AK ...

Looks like you hit up OBX. I was there last weekend and spotted the horses next to the beach taking a stroll in the water. Always a great place to wheel.

Have you done the Trans American Trail yet? I am planning that trip for next summer.... hopefully, that's the plan anyways.

I remember driving around one morning in Carolla looking for horses, didnt spot one, decided to check out the beach houses and as I crept slowly around a very overgrown blind corner wham! About 8 of the mangiest sadest looking horses ive ever seen are just chilling, chewing and shitting in the middle of the "street".

And then up comes one of the exploitation tours hollaring at me that im too close. Im sorry Karen but they are like sea turtles and diving: i cant touch them but they can touch me all they want. In this case i shut the jeep off and was just waiting for them to move. They saw the tour and moseyed at a brisk shuffle the otherway.

Good times.

Ps ate a whole peck at awful arthurs myself, waitress thought I was nuts.

Any word of advice?

Do it. Have fun. Anything beyond that would take a dissertation. And it's partly why I created the videos. Not simply trying to promote my channel here, but if you watch the entire series of videos, you can see where we ran into problems, and what we did to get around them. Be prepared for that. Plenty of ideas will come to mind if you do watch the videos. And the studio chats after each video often discuss why we did certain things that part of the trip. And I am responsive to questions on the channel about specific things related to each video.

Edit: BTW, I did write such a dissertation for our trip to Alaska and Canada. And that document runs 153 pages. I give it out freely to anyone who wants more detail on those trips than the 14 part video series provides.
