I have an Overland without the towing package, and decided to see how it towed directly from the bumper. Dremeled out the lightly marked hole, threw a 2" ball and torqued it down. Towed around 1700-2000lbs on a single axle trailer and it went surprisingly well, especially considering the ball was just over 25" off the ground. Had a little sway at anything over 75-80 mph, but didn't stay there very long, just had an open road and figured I'd test it out. Either way, towed it for 65 miles at highway speeds with no issues, will be towing it 160 this weekend to MI.

Are you seriously thinking that it's safe to tow with the trailer canted upward like that? I'll warn my friends in Illinois to stay home.

Sarcasm aside, that's incredibly dangerous.

It’s a single axle trailer and maybe the picture is misleading you but there is less than two degrees of rise from level.
