So we left the lights on all night a couple of nights ago and I had to jump-start it. It ran fine and my wife drove it about 100 miles that day...recharging the battery. Yesterday, I drove it for the first time since the jump-start and noticed that the "Service Auto-Stop" indicator was lit-up. So thinking that maybe the jump-start was the root-cause, I put it on a charger all night. This morning, the indicator still comes on. I know that the Auto-stop has a separate battery, does it need to be charged separately from the main battery, or does charging the primary battery also charge the secondary one? Any other ideas about the "Service Auto-Stop" Indicator? It's irritating!

Mine just comes on randomly from time to time no idea why. I am going to see if it continues to do so and if so will bring to dealership

I don't have an official answer, but mine also comes on randomly and it seems as if the system only charges that battery when it is low...not sure if that means there is a disconnect that prevents charging the ESS battery when you charge the main battery. There is probably something built into the computer that controls the charging of the ESS battery and you should be fine just driving it.

This will happen with a low or defective battery. After charging the main battery, if it doesn't clear after a couple days of driving, take it to the dealer for a battery check. If they decide to change it under warranty, make sure they change both batteries.

It has a 'smart' charging system, and the main battery gets priority. If one or both batteries is defective, it can cause random and odd errors.

This happened to me on the third day of ownership (<200 miles). I got the "Stop/Start Unavailable Service Start Stop" but when I tried to move the car it would move maybe a foot and then seize up. It also said something at one point about me needing to put it in Park but that didn't help either. Dealer is having to tow it back to the lot.

Also one other odd thing, I think other people said that their auto/stop start is automatic. From the time I test drove it until I took it home this feature was never engaged, it just drove like a normal truck, so I didn't even realize it was automatic. Any ideas how that happened?

It is automatic, and enables every time the truck is started. It monitors multiple systems and won't activate under certain conditions, like temperature too high or low, discharged battery, and seat belt not buckled.

Thanks. Hopefully it's just a discharged battery issue then.

I live in SW Florida where AC is on all the time this time of year. I took delivery of JT a month ago, and Auto Stop has only engaged 3 time so far, and then only a few seconds off. The AC is the reason.

Same here. In Addition, I also had a seatbelt light that wouldn’t shut off. Took it in and they replaced the seatbelt sensor, that fixed the stop start disabled issue.
