LOD winch bumper install on Mojave plus flat tow brackets

Ok, finally got my bumper. I chose this bumper as it’s a similar look to the stock bumper and is actually designed for flat towing off the shackle tabs behind my Coach. Most brands don’t even mention this as an option, so to me that means their not specifically designed to do this.

For flat towing they sell replacement ends to swap depending on your tow bar brand. They also recommend a wing bracket kit that ads an optional safety cable hook point and additional bolt attachment to frame to strengthen things up on both sides, you don’t need this option just to install this bumper if not flat towing

If you are installing the wing bracket kit and retaining the stamped metal skid plate that the Mojave’s come with, you will need to notch the bottom to allow everything to sit flush. On other models or using the LOD skid plate will not require this step, I think I am the guinea pig on the Mojave w/flat tow brackets.

Finished install, before/ after. Still need to decide on my winch but now I can tow it to Glamis this week. Total install was about 3.5 hrs, but I had shoulder surgery 5 weeks ago and was slow going on a few steps as I’m left handed and that’s the arm I don’t have full use of.

You can see the stamped front skid on the Mojave models to protect the remote shock reservoirs, I’m glad I was able to keep it vs buying the optional skid plate.

Hi Matt,

Did you ever get the winch installed? I got a Warn VR EVO S-10 and it’s pretty tight against the grille. I was wondering if you tried anything to make it fit better.

I have DV8 bumper spacers coming tomorrow but I think that may add to my problems. Just looking for ideas from someone who looks like he knows what he’s doing.
