First Impression:

I put in a set of Metalcloak's durospring's bump stops. I was excited to try them out, but now my Jeep feels harsher than before. I'll note that I didn't lower my bump stop extensions, which right now are 3". I have 37s on a 3.5" JKS lift. I'm going to try and play around with the bump stop extension height to regain some uptravel, but so far I'd say my review of these is pretty "meh". I don't feel any real cushioning, but instead more of a "bang" than before. It's pretty harsh. I wasn't expecting air bump style, but now I wish I had spent a bit more and gone with air bumps. I'm getting tired of crashing down the front suspension on innocuous divots and drainage declines.

Has anyone had any similar experience?

Edit—

Today I went wheeling. My opinion has changed entirely. These do work, and work wonderfully Offroad. With the sway bars disconnected, I was able to feel when and where these shine. Primarily, it’s coming downhill, dropping off ledge. I didn’t have a harsh bottoming all day. I am really happy I got these.

However, the drainage divots on the way back to my house... extreme bang again. It’s as if I have no suspension at all and it hits like a shopping cart off a curb. I cannot explain the discrepancy between the wonderous job my suspension does Offroad, but then suck horribly in certain on road scenarios.

I’m going to remove some extension and see where that gets me. But overall, I’m pleased.

I've had my eye on these for awhile and have been interested to hear how they are. I'm surprised you have more of a bang than before. Any idea how the foam spring is making for a harsher hit compared to plastic on steel?

Hmmm, I installed the MC bumps on the front of my JTR with the Clayton 2.5" lift and I've intentionally taken it on some dips around my block to "test" them out. I personally don't feel like they are harsh. I thought they softened things up a bit. Definitely don't regret the purchase. I'll see if I can throw the GoPro on the frame to capture some video.

Well if you decide to go air bumps, I have an extra set of King 2.0's for sale lol, since I didn't want my bump stops to mismatch (Went with Fox 3.0's Internal Bypass Shocks w/ adjusters and reservoirs instead of King 2.5's piggyback reservoirs w adjusters).

@Bonanza we appreciate the feedback. First, it is important to note that these are not replacements for air bumps. Different tech with different intentions.

These are improvements over stock jounces... and when fully compressed, they are about an in taller then a fully compressed stock jounce... so you should remove an inch of bump stop from your set up.

Most likely that is what you are feeling... you are reaching full compression far too early. If you continue to have issues just reach out to our team and we will help diagnose the problem and, if you still don't like them, we will happily take them back.

I updated my review. I’m going to remove some bump stop, but wheeling has totally changed my viewpoint.

Hi @Matsonian am I correct in thinking that these should not be used at stock height/a tire size where no bumpstop extension is required?

Are you still using them? How much longer are the fronts than stock?

Yep. I can't recall how much longer they are; I forgot I had these installed. They're holding up fine. If you're doing a lift and going to be pulling the springs, I'd definitely add these in since you'll be there. I never did the backs as I don't think I've ever bottomed out the back.

I will say they are long enough that I need a spring compressor to get the springs out.

I'll be replacing the stock ones with only a puck lift to level out the front. After I added bump stop extensions, I might find these metalcloak ones too long.
