I'm kind of digging the look of the steelies.
I’m definitely a fan. Huge bonus (aside from being less than $100 each shipped) is that if you lose a bead and smash the rim in the middle of nowhere you can beat it straight enough to reseat the tire and make it home.

I’ll have to report back on that after I get them on the truck. They’re stacked on top of each other on the wooden Jeep lift crate in my garage (which is a total shitshow currently) so I can’t give real numbers until they’re all accessible. There didn’t appear to be an unusually large number of weights on any but I’ll be happy to give you the rundown once I can.

Reading and catching up on this thread, I recently purchased the JT Sport with the diesel motor and love it! Mine is the 8 speed automatic and plan on the 2 inch lift and 315/70/R17 Milestar Patagonia.
Question for you, did you end up with the Eco Diesel and a 6 speed manual or automatic? My understanding was that you couldn't get the diesel with a manual transmission...

Congrats on the diesel! Mine is the gasoline pentastar v6. It was more of a priority for me to have the manual trans than the diesel, and you are correct that the diesel is not available with a manual transmission.
If I could do it over I might get the diesel - it looks like the front bulkhead/firewall is identical between the automatic and manual transmission vehicles, which is not the case for the vehicles I’ve had experience with in the past (Land Rover defender and Mercedes G class). I have a Mercedes OM606.96 turbo diesel engine waiting to go into my Jeep if I start having issues with the pentastar, but I’m not expecting any for a long time. I generally prefer diesel to gasoline though for the torque, efficiency, and fact that extra fuel carried externally isn’t highly flammable.

If you are not planning on running 37s ever with the manual and your wheel/tire setup using 4.56 gears would be optimal for you.
You were right, @MntMan My 4.56 gears arrived on Friday and I’m just waiting on the install kits to take everything to the dealer to get them installed. I don’t want FCA to have any reason for voiding my warranty so I’ll have them do the installation. I’ve only helped with R&P installation once in the past and don’t think I want to mess it up anyway.
With stock tires (245/75r17) and 3.73 gears I can verify that the gearing is a little high. 4.10 would be good for stock tires, and 4.10 will give a very stock feel with my 35s according to grimmjeeper’s gear ratio calculator so I went with the 4.56s. Not planning on going up to 37s as I’m not going to be rock crawling in a truck with a 137” wheelbase. Yeah they look cooler, but I like that I can keep 35s on for a thousand bucks less per set.

No worries, I’m shooting for Friday but might be able to get my lift installed tomorrow if the weather cooperates. I pulled the wheels/tires down and got you the weights today. Wanted to finally open my crate and get familiar with the lift install instructions. Here are all five:
#.....Outside(oz).....Inside(oz)
1..............3.00....................3.75
2.............2.75....................4.50
3.............0.00....................3.00
4.............2.00.....................1.50
5.............4.50....................4.50
Ave.......2.45.....................3.45

That doesn’t seem like all TOO much variation in weights. But im no expert.

Thanks!

Well, my Gladiator is a super base model. I ordered it with two options: limited slip rear and hard top. So the factory steelies came with the center caps but the ones I got to match the factory spare came with nothing. I should be able to pull you a part number tomorrow when I yank the wheels off again though. I’ll update as soon as I have it - and hopefully have pics with the lift, wheels, and tires too!

I’m a big fan of tall skinny tires, I’d definitely run 37x10.50 if they made them. Thanks, I’m super happy with the Sportclassic!
Looking good! I'm also a fan of the look of steelies, and think the narrower tire fits the style well.

Lift installed, before and afters are here! I took my time installing the lift. For those wanting to diy make sure you have a good 1/2” drive torque wrench capable of over 200 lbs/ft and a coil spring compressor for the rear springs. I don’t think it can be done without a spring compressor.
Enough talk, here’s what we were all waiting for!

Next up is inner fenders front and rear, Rubicon front fender flares, mopar LED headlights, and 4.56 gears.
I got the road armor stainless inner fenders (520LFR0Z) from sportcompactwarehouse.com at a cost of $423.26 which was significantly lower than anywhere else. I was worried that it was a scam site, but they arrived two days after I placed the order! Faster than even summit racing. Went with Artec front inner fenders (ARTJL5107) from northridge4x4 and front Rubicon flares from eBay. Front fender parts should arrive tomorrow and I plan on painting the tops of the flares both front and rear white to match my truck. Rustoleum plastic paint en route from summit racing.
Local dealer quoted me $2300 to do ring and pinion front and rear, reflash for LED headlights, and recalibrate speed for tires/gears. That’s 7 hours labor for each gear set (14hrs total) and an hour for each reflash.
Obviously that is ridiculous and indicates a labor rate of $147/hr. If I can’t find a shop that can do both sets of gears for under a thousand dollars I’ll take a week off of work and do the gear change myself.
I got the Tazer Mini from @zauto and was waiting to plug it in until I had the dealer update my truck for headlights and tires so the Tazer would go back to that for it’s “return to stock config” function. If the dealer is going to charge more than the Tazer cost for two flashes I’m not going to have them do either one.
Look for new fender pics to be uploaded this week!
