I think driving a Jeep a necessity to my sanity. I still remember this girl that got in my Jeep for the first time, first thing she said was can you close the roof. I convinced her otherwise and off we headed to our dinner date. 1/2 way there she wanted me to go down this dirt road instead where we ended up eating See's Candy and French Fries under the stars as opposed to sit down dinner at a restaurant, she has since bought her own Jeep. Still my favorite thing about Louisiana, a girl from Texas.

It's a pickup, it's a convertible, it's an off-road vehicle, and you have the Jeep community!...and the critics compare it to the host of generic mid-sized trucks? That's like comparing a Wendy's frosty to a homemade Banana Split!

I almost made a thread with similar sentiments. I have owned a new Mustang GT, new F150 Lariat and some other vehicles over the years. Nothing has the awesome factor that this thing does. Whole family loves it. Just did our second off-road adventure today in less than a month.

I let my wife trade in my Ram Rebel on hot JL high altitude. At the time I was certain that I was ok with my car until my TRX got delivered. About 2 weeks later I got word that my TRX order was canceled. I was completely gutted. I told my wife that I have to have a truck, and she agreed. The hunt began.
I went to the Toyota dealership and drove a Tacoma TRD Pro, and I loved it. I called my wife and told her. She told me that I had to drive another mid size truck before I bought the Taco so I could have something to compare it to. There is a Jeep dealer right down the road from the Toyota dealership so I went there. I drove a JT Mojave and nearly instantly hated it. The ride seemed harsh and it just felt bad to me. I was about to leave and I saw my gator JT rubicon sitting there. I asked if I could drive it. The salesman told me that if I didn't like the Mojave that I was unlikely to like the rubicon. He was right, I didn't like the rubicon, I loved it. I bought the truck and named it Taco John. That was in November. Since then I have sold my Subaru WRX STi because I only wanted to ever drive my truck. I no longer miss the Ram, I really love having a smaller truck now, and I am tossing a supercharger on it next week which will go a ways toward making it a scale model of the TRX that Mopar canceled my order on.
TL;DR: I love my gator rubicon!

I agree 100%. I traded in a 2020 JLU Willys with the 2.0 turbo for a 2021 Overland ED. I love it as it checks all of the boxes for me.

I really did not like the Mojave at all. Hate may be strong, but I would have bought the Toyota before I bought that one. On the other hand, once I drove the rubicon I couldn't imagine buying the Taco instead.
The point, for me at least, there was a very noticeable difference. I had to pay $500 more for the Rubicon than what the dealer quoted for the Mojave (and both were 5k more than the tacoma) but I was happy to pay it.

Ive always been a “Car” enthusiast and have had something “fun” sometimes that was just an old pickup due to funds, but fun to me.... and Friday was usually the day to drive it to the job site!

I’m using my jt as my daily driver , I piled the miles on my jku It’s a big reason why I got it, makes the commute an adventure!!! ?. (And exactly what “arkamsaspig” said above!)
“arkamsaspig” is that like Manbearpig? haha

Same here. Had a few exotics but those are a pain to drive. This JT just makes me smile and it's comfortable and the miles just melt away.

I tell ya, when I first saw the Gladiator at the Chicago Auto Show, I felt as giddy as a teenager on his first date. Seems a bit ridiculous when I actually write those words down but damn it’s so true, lol. Every time I look at it or drive it, I am reminded that it is the most satisfying purchase I’ve ever made in my life. OP described it best, it IS visceral!

I also love my Gladiator. I was in the hunt for a full-size truck, until I started pricing them out loaded as I wanted. I didn't was to pay mid-60s or above, so I went mid-size. I went through them all: Colorado, Canyon, Ridgeline, Ranger, and didn't look at the Taco or Frontier because they hadn't refreshed in years, and then I went and drive a Gladiator. After I drove it, the sales lady asked if I wanted to go on their back woods trail. I said yes. She took me, in a Sport S model, back through the woods, on a trail with ditches, rocks, wash outs, and way more than you would expect from a dealer. Well, she didn't have the model I wanted, and I ended up going to another dealer, but she won me over. I love my JTO. I just started making mods but I'm learning more about trucks and I love it. And this community is amazing. I come here more than any social media.

Ok brother, those are some trails. Did you modify your motor, or gears, to do the tougher trails? What is your rig setup? Those are very nice badges.
Mopar 2” lift, most trails done with stock wheels until “Top of the World” and “Poison Spider”, had my 37s by then. No regear needed and it’s a daily driver.
