I'm working on a deal right now for a Sport with a 24B package and a few extras. Here's what's on the sticker:

Granite Crystal Metallic Clear–Coat Exterior Paint $245
Customer Preferred Package 24B
Trailer–Tow Package $350
Class IV Receiver Hitch Trailer Hitch Zoom All–Weather Slush Mats by Mopar® $165
8–Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission $2,000
Selec–Speed® Control Transmission Skid–Plate
Black Freedom Top® 3–Piece Hard Top $1,395
Black Tubular Side Steps by Mopar® $625
SiriusXM® with 6–Month Radio Sub Call 800–643–2112 $295
Spray–In Bedliner by Mopar® $495
Destination Charge $1,495

MSRP
TOTAL PRICE: * $40,610

I think I may be able to get them down to around 33K. Any advice or opinions on what a decent deal would be is much appreciated. And I am trying to nail them down on the final price after taxes, etc. before I get to financing and down payments. I'm trying to not even mention monthly payments.

On mine my MSRP was 40,385 and I paid 34,163 (plus $300 doc fee and taxes and tags) after the $2000 manufacturer rebate that was running at the time. That's 8% under invoice plus another $2000 off in rebates. Mine was a custom order through Criswell in Maryland, it was a simple no haggle deal all done by email. Since yours is a few hundred more the mine at MSRP, I'd say getting it for a thousand less then mine would be a good deal, but I'm not sure what the manufacturer rebates are currently.

I'm trying to do this with a dealership online. I'm waiting on them to get back to me after our initial contact. Their online "true price" is $32,206, but I'm waiting to see what the numbers will really be after taxes and fees.

Yeah, I know when I was shopping there were a few dealerships that advertised really low prices online but you couldn't get those prices. First they didn't include the destination fee which is basically $1500 and it's kind of dishonest to leave it off of the advertised price and then charge it when people show up to buy. Second they included every manufacturer rebate in the advertised price, even ones that excluded Gladiators. I just don't know very many current Jeep owners who graduated from college in the last 6 months who are retired military and currently volunteer for the fire department while also being a FCA employee. Also dealer doc fees vary greatly in some states. I paid a $300 doc fee, but the place an hour closer to me that was advertising with all the rebates that nobody qualifies for was charging an $1800 doc fee.

Just read all the fine print and make sure to get the out the door price in writing with a break down of all fees. Hopefully the dealer you are looking at isn't advertising deceptively low prices only to change the numbers when you get an actual sales quote.

I should be getting an OTD from him within the hour. I'm going to walk away if I find out they threw every discount in the book at the online price and then pull most of them when it's time to settle up. It's been over 30 years since I graduated from college and 23 since I left the military. I hate getting teased with those rebates just to have them pulled out at the last minute.

$7.5K is under MSRP is a huge number. I certainly hope you get it. I have a 2020 which I got for about $5500 under MSRP and already getting the itch for a trade-in on a 2021 in Sarge Green (maybe with a few more bells and whistles too). Frankly I just love working on these and tweaking them to my particular likes at that time. I'll be following and rooting for you. The problem with getting a great deal on one is always assuming you'll continue to get great deals. Kinda running into a wall at the moment on finding a great deal within 250 miles of Southwestern OH.

Just got a call back from the manager. It "looks" like they're coming in with the $32,206 online price, but of course after fees, taxes, etc. the OTD is $36,696. So I've asked for a breakdown of everything to be sent to me. I want to see everything down to the penny. I hate dealing with dealerships when they start throwing numbers and fees at you verbally. I need to see it in writing, digest everything, and then make my decision.

The thing I did was walk in with a cashiers check for what they advertised and said take it or leave it. I can always change the name on the check. In and out 30 min. I gotta feed my family too.

Being in a check for 32206 + sales tax for your state from your credit union and I bet they take it.

‘Sounds like you’re dealing with Koons. We’ve bought a couple of Jeep’s from them (but not our Gladiator as they didn’t have special pricing initially) They are fairly straight to deal with just watch out for their doc fee. It’s a little high.
I brought a check for the agreed upon price and drove the 3 hours up to them and walked out in less than an with Our new Grand Cherokee.

That sounds about right. Rough numbers: $1500 destination fee, $1500 sales tax, $100 tags, and then like a $1400 doc fee or something in that ballpark.

I have how crazy high the doc fees (added dealer profit) are. It's one reason I often end up buying cars in Maryland instead of Virginia since they cap the doc fees in Maryland but in Virginia they just keep getting a little higher every year.

I bought my JKU WW from them. You may want to mention that you are waiting for a price from Koons. They will come to their final number quick.

I was test driving the JKU with a Lindsay salesman when the Koons salesman called me wanting to know where I was. Had a 10a.m. appt. with Koons and just happened to be taking the test drive with the salesman at Lindsay at 10. Pays to plan ahead.

Koons is one of those dealers that leaves out the destination fee when they advertise their online pricing to make it seem like they are thousands less.

Tried dealing with them when I was shopping when the Gladiator first released and was less than impressed. Never could get a final numbers pricing dealing with them online and by email. Was always them trying to get you to come in first before detailed pricing was given.
