Another quest here - loved leaving my ungaraged TJ - doors off and top down, covered at night for rain.

Is there any such item for the JT? No garage for me but would love to be able to cover at night, doors off (without taking to top off, leaving it "open")

TIA,

Brian

I’m in the same boat - no garage and would like to cover it at night. Searching around other threads here it seems like the Rain Gear cover is the best option. I’m planning to pick one up in the next few weeks.

I don’t count that as perfect though because I’d love something that packs smaller and could double as emergency cover when I’m driving around topless and get caught in a sudden storm. Sadly I don’t believe any such product exists.

I got the Rain Gear cover and tried it before this post - not even close. My mistake as I thought it did support a softtop on. I sent an email if there was an option from them - have not heard back from them. Will start checking out options on Quadratec since the weather is getting nice outside.

The soft top closes up pretty quick. I debated buying a cover for mine as I don’t have a garage either. I ended up going with soft doors. They were more expensive but it takes less than a minute to take them from the truck bed and throw them on. I get to work throw them back on the keep dust out or pop up storms. And I can actually drive home in the rain. I also don’t have a second car anymore so leaving it covered with a rain fly doesn’t work if I have to suddenly go somewhere. All said and done soft top closed and doors on less than 5 minutes.

I just read some feedback from Quadratec's Q&A on the Mopar cab cover and it seems to support top down and no doors. I will call them tomorrow but would honestly like some feedback here.

Can anyone verify that?

Thanks @Cape taco12 - I do that with soft doors on my TJ - except top off - pretty much all summer and throw on a cover every night (unless its going to rain for a while and I need to drive it).

It really doesn't, though I have "made it work". I usually keep the soft top without the window on and doors off for the summer. I can pull the mopar cover over that setup. I do run into issues though with it. There is just the smallest gaps in the corners usually unless I struggle to get it perfect.

This gap had me removing the carpet though because the tinyest parts would get wet, and didn't really dry due to the humidity. Glad not to have it though, but based on how you use it I would say just peel off that bandaid now and get rid of the carpet.

I understand that the Rain Gear cover probably would not work with a soft top open, as that's a LOT of "stuff" packed up on the back of the roof area.

But does the Rain Gear cover work with the soft top on, but in the regular closed position?

Yes, I live in Florida so rarely open my soft top,. Need the shade. I returned a quadratec cover because it did not cover the soft top. The raingear cover fits perfectly with the top on.
