Just picked up my truck yesterday and already the kids (and wife) are wondering if we can watch a movie on the Navi screen. I’m sure this has been answered before, maybe someone can provide a link?

First the disclaimer, there’s a reason head units aren’t sold with this capability built in for vehicles in motion. It’s a distraction to the driver and could cause a wreck. That being said...

I’ve never seen it asked. I don’t have the 8.4”, but I understand it can handle both the backup camera and a front facing trail camera. Assuming these 2 cameras aren’t already both installed, maybe you could put a video input source in its place? Specifically, the trail cam.

Otherwise, it looks like you may be able to root an android device and play video over Android Auto. Again, I’ve never tried, but that sounds like the easier approach.

Rooting an Android device and play via Android Auto probably is the easier solution. But, there is a way to hardwire something in. I was working on hardwiring a Raspberry Pi to use as a digital display for extra gauges, just haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

Check out this thread: https://www.dodgedurango.net/threads/installing-appletv-on-uconnect-8-4an-aux-video-input.24268/

Z Automotive sells a kit: https://www.zautomotive.com/product/hdmi-av-kit/

I purchased most of the stuff I needed from Amazon for cheaper.

Removing because it was a pointless comment.

Somebody on here actually got the z-automotive camera and installed an AV switch. off of that he hooked a nintendo switch up to it. its low def though.

honestly though I would probably just get a $100ish monitor off of Aliexpress they are 13-15 inches and would power off the usb ports even.

Android can be rooted (hacked). iOS? Not so much. Neither platform offers this functionality out of the box, though.

Buy an iPad save yourself the hassle
Where’s the fun in that? Agreed though, if too much hassle won’t do it. Just wondered if there was an “easy” way.

thirding the ipad option. The infotainment screens are piss-poor resolution.

As to ipads, i have the wireless carplay adapter, which as an added benefit, lets me use all carplay functions while driving. There is probably an app that will allow it.

If you have a manual, you can tell the kids to watch you shift for an hour and a half. Call it the live version of every Fast and Furious flick. Zing!

So the short answer to this is yes. You have a couple of options. My first choice would be get rid of the factory uConnect and put an aftermarket stereo like the Stinger Heigh10. It has more video inputs and is designed to work with the Jeep. I have not tried this yet but i will doing this upgrade soon.
However, you can use a jailbroken iPhone and set it up to work with Apple Carplay. You can make any app compatible with the iPhone work on Carplay.

If you have the tazer you can unlock the settings on the uConnect, then you just need about 30 dollars in parts from amazon + a roku and you're set. Whenever I get a chance I'll post a write up on it. If I ever get my truck back that is...
