Yes I know tires are beat to death. Sorry.
So I've spent the last week researching and over-thinking new tires for my Willys. I had it narrowed down to Goodyear Duratracs in stock size of 255/75-17. Well in reading more it appears these aren't the best on wet roads. And are best in deep snow. Which we don't get much of here.
So I'm back to what my original first choice was. Falken Wildpeaks in 255/80-17. Same width and almost an inch taller. Here is my concern. They weigh a few pounds more each than the stock KM2's. I'm wondering how much of a negative effect this will have on mileage. Also with the fact that the Wildpeaks have a much less aggressive tread, would that have a positive effect on mileage. I know these aren't vehicles built for good fuel economy. But with rising fuel prices, mileage is starting to come into play.
Again sorry for yet another tire thread. I'm ducking the pitchforks and spears. LOL
