Picked up a 2020 JT that has 38x13.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers on 22x12 Fuel Blitz wheels. Headed to Moab shortly and have been thinking about tire pressures for the trails. Obviously don't want to get down to single digit numbers without beadlocks. But... what got me thinking is that the ridiculously wide wheels with these equally ridiculously wide tires... sort of wondering how low I can really go before I risk losing a bead... is there math for this? I know how to get to appropriate tire pressures for normal street driving, and there's a documented GAP for that. Is there one for determining the lowest it can go before risking bead loss or is this going to be purely experimental?

And yeah, I know this tire/wheel combo is awesome for mall crawling and well... not for rock crawling. I get it. Will be dropping to 38s on 17s eventually. Just not right now.

I ran 15 psi on my 285's in Moab, felt good, no issues, not super hard trails. Not sure if that helps you or not. Worked out to be bought 18 psi in the afternoon once things warmed up some.

On tougher trails I run about 12 on rocks, maybe a little less if wet or snowy like 8-10. I now run 14-16 if in mud/woods. Running less than 14 has been causing me issues with getting roots and junk stuck on the wheels from digging through ruts. My buddy had to have his tires reseated after our last trip out from all the junk trapped in the wheel and causing slow leaks.

Edit:
I am on 17" wheels. I wouldn't go that low on 22s. I don't know that answer, but I would personally start about 20 or 22. Moab has plenty of traction usually and if you are too low, you will end up banging your rims.

So just to close this out... I ended up running 20-22 on most terrain. Dropped to 16 for Fins n Things. No bead issues. Did beat the crap out of the wheels, though...
