Was looking at the Decked truck bed storage systems. They look alright and seem too be functional but kinda look cheap made IMO. But figured I'd see if anyone else had put one in their gladiator and how they liked it. Give me some feedback please✌

I don't have one in a Gladiator, but a buddy has one in his Tacoma. In my opinion, they are not cheaply made, but feel quite solid. You could hold a dance party on top of the Decked platform. The drawback with Decked is the lost storage space. Yes, you gain organization and access to gear, but there is significant lost space taken up by the drawers themselves. So its a trade off, and will be great for some, and not so good for others - depending on how you use your bed. I think they are awesome in a bigger truck if you want the organization & access, and you aren't filling the bed with gravel, mulch, whatever on a regular basis. I think they are less valuable in a small bed like the Gladiator, and you lose storage volume from what is already a relatively small storage area. But its all about intended use, and some folks - especially those running a rack system with a roof top tent - will value the additional locked and dry storage space of the Decked drawers. What do you want to use your bed for? Refrigerator for camping? Well, that might be better on the floor of the bed not up high on a Decked platform, and you might want a topper instead of a set of drawers. etc. etc. See TFL's complaints about lost storage with Decked in a Gladiator (go to 4:15 in the video for the review of Decked):

Thanks I was thinking the same thing on the cargo room issue. Looking at all the options available obviously. They all have their positives and negatives.

Agree with above: the drawers are very high quality and offer a great solution for storage, protection, organization and some limited security of your gear.

Also agree you potentially lose lots of storage volume, especially if you are moving bulk items (or anything that doesn't fit nicely in the drawers).

My biggest drawback is the weight - the system empty weighs close to 200 lbs empty, and that instantly eats up around 20% of your payload before you even get started.

Another minor consideration: if you plan to install the t-rails (to fasten anything onto the surface), Decked doesn't currently manufacture t-rails for the Gladiator system; you'll simply need to drill holes into the rails over the metal 'studs.'

Hope this helps a little.

I have the softopper, I figure it will allow our dogs to come along on our adventures. But I was wondering if there would be enough comfortable space for a golden retriever on top of the decked system with the softtopper on? Can anyone measure from the top of the decked to say maybe the top of the cab? If not I'll try and look at pics and guess it myself. :)

Edit, I measured. It looked roughly 25-26" which is too short for the pupper I think.

I’ve been contemplating the decked system vs a cargo glide/ bed slide myself. A buddy has a decked in his gladiator & loves it. Everything stickshifter said makes sense to me and the point wemovealot makes about weight is important to consider. Another thing that concerns me about decked is that it essentially is held in by double stick tape (look at install instructions). I’m thinking in the heat of summer it could loosen up although at 200lbs plus whatever I have in it my guess is it wouldn’t bounce out. Still that doesn’t “feel” like it is a solid mount to my Mojave. So I am leaning heavily toward a slide unit and strapping things into it.
I would love to hear the direction you go. I’m not going to buy anything for a week or two while I muddle it over. Hope this sparked more thought for you as well.

I never looked at the mounting set up glad you mentioned the double side tape. Especially in the southeast Texas humidity and heat, it would have too be some bad ass tape lol

The Decked system is not held in by double sided tape. It is strongly anchored at the corners with mechanical attachments.

I use the Decked system in my Gladiator. I bought it to have a place to store my 4wd recovery gear, tools, and other items. The product is well made and installs easily. I also use the truck to haul trash to the local dump and pickup handyman stuff from the nearby building supply store. The Decked system works well for those uses. I would not haul a refrigerator or dirt bike with the Decked system installed. The system uses up some of the volume of the pickup bed, but I haven't carried enough stuff to fill up the drawers and boxes of the system yet. The top of the deck is very strong. I like it!

Id probably buy one if I didnt have to void my warranty out of the gate to make it work with my softopper. :<

I don't understand. which warranty would you be voiding - the softtopper, the Decked system, or the truck? What would you have to do that would cause this?

FWIW, the decked system would make a good base for a bed. A storage box, built to the height of the deck, could sit on the truck bed and tailgate to make the bed long enough for nearly anyone.

You have to cut a notch out of both sides of the decker to allow the softopper frame to function.
I read on Deckers website that things like that void their warranty.

I bought the Decked system and really like the organization and security of all the gear I like to carry. I feel that it is well built and quite sturdy. I like the weight in the bed for driving on snow and ice. You do lose the bed rail height for securing cargo as well as some space for all of the Decked components. I purchased the Maximus sport bar which raises the available side wall for larger cargo.

I’m not a defender of Decked - but I do want to point out that it is not held in by double sided tape. There are stainless steel anchors at each corner that hook into tie down points. It is quite well anchored. However, the lids for the small “ammo cans” are not super secure, and if you are bouncing around off road those can pop out.
