I'm considering a kayak and was looking for ideas on how to carry on the Gladdie. I have the rollup tonneau so I'm not sure a rack would work for me, but a couple of these could work. Thanks for posting, everyone.
Here is the link for Oak Orchard Canoe. Am sure they can give you some good ideas & help set you up.

Thanks. I also looked at the Billie Bars as a possibility. I have plenty of time to figure this out as I don't see getting the 'yak for a while.

Well, things can change quickly. My boss is giving me two Ascend ten-footers as he and his wife are downsizing, getting close to etirement. After looking at different options, we (me & MLW) decided to get a utility trailer that we've been wanting. I'll probably install some t-slot rails along the side of the floor and add tie-down points.

Update. We decided against the trailer at this time; maybe in a few months. I'm going with the Billie Bars and their LowPro kayak mounts (risers). I'll post photos once they are here and installed.

We have a couple of kayaks we haven't used in a few seasons due to algae blooms in the non-motorized lakes. I haven't figured out how to carry them on the truck yet, but there are some really good ideas.

I especially like those hinge tie down hoops. I would 100% pay money for a set of those if @Killroy Was Here decided to sell them.

Oh using the track for rear tie is brilliant. Duh didn’t think about that.

Souris River 18.5 on dual Yakima bars on the roof. Front straps tuck back under hood when not in use, rear ties go to the screw eyes in the t slot. solid as a rock!

I use the basic Mopar JL/JT cross bars and add foam blocks also. Tie off in the front is the ARB classic stubby brush bar, rear tie off is the recovery points. I use basic micro fibre clothes between the paint and the straps.

I put the Mopar cross bars both on the rear panel for the season and leave it that way so I can still remove the front panels.

The trip in the photo was over 14000km and included a lot of rough and fast off road stuff. The vibrations off road did wear small grooves into both the rack and my canoe gunnels!

Not the best picture but the extension does work and allows for all our other camping gear...

Hope it’s ok if I bring this thread back. We have a cheap canoe that I would like to take with us camping. My question is if we got a roof rack and put the canoe up there, would that be too much on the truck in conjunction with a camper? We have a Sport S with the 6,000 lb tow package. Camper is 4,200 dry. Travel with wife, dog, and son. Thanks.

I don't think a canoe on the roof will have much impact above what the camper is already doing. Who knows, it might make the camper more aerodynamic. 😁
