About to close a deal on my ZR2 Bison with a similar calculus. Haven't ordered my JT yet though... We're both working from home, have three cars, and are selling down to one. My wife will eventually go back into the office, and hopefully the 2022s are out. I hope to have truck in hand by then. As a bonus, the avoided car payments will go into some budgetary category that makes my wife happy such that I get to keep the profits on the Bison to put into the JT! I'm planning to more or less immediately emulate what I have on the Bison with the JT, but add in a few JT specific options that aren't available on the Bison. Pretty stoked to say the least!

Topper deal closes next weekend, truck closes around the same time, and I haven't yet put the rest up for sale (wheels/tires/lesser accessories).

I have been looking at trading my 2018 Mojito JLUR for a Gladiator for months...almost pulled the trigger back in October but glad I waited. I paid $42k for it brand new with a MSRP just under $50k. Back then, I would have gotten $37,500 with 7.5% below invoice on the Gladiator. This week I checked again and to my surprise, dealer came back with $46k value on my trade!! I found a Sarge Mojave Gladiator in transit exactly how I would order it due to arrive on Tuesday. The discounts off the Gladiator were not the greatest but the net cost went down significantly...so I pulled the trigger. Looking forward to joining the dark side ;-)

I will post pics once I get the keys in my hands :-D

Edit - My Alias is GinjaNinja on the jlwranglerforums so will need to update this profile now!

Cheers,

Yep, sold my 2018 4Runner TRD Pro to the dealer for about 5k more than I paid for it in 2017. Selling my 2001 Tundra for $500 less than I paid for it in 2009. Like many others, these crazy used car values are why I will soon (this weekend hopefully) be getting into a Firecracker Red Mojave, can’t wait. Haven’t had a convertible since I sold my 89 Samurai in 93. Pretty much been a truck guy ever since and as much as I wanted one, couldn’t see downsizing to a Wrangler. Luckily Jeep has finally given me the best of both worlds!

i had been pondering the thought of trading my Sport S to a rubicon, but i really like my Gobi color. I could sell to a dealership for a little profit, but then i lose tax benefits of trading, then any profit i make just goes back to taxes on a new purchase. That kind of washes each other out.

If I find something I like on a dealer lot, i may get good trade value, but no one is dealing with what they have in inventory, so i may be able to trade high, but purchase would be high compared to any other time. Congrats for those of you who get to make it work for your benefit.

Saw green Mohave at my dealership. It’s pretty. Same color as my 73 sport Fury. I’d love to trade up but I’m keeping my Max Tow.

I got a great deal on my 2015 Colorado Z71 as trade in. Significantly more than I could have guessed. I then got an even better deal on a 2020 JTR with 10,000 miles. So I too am in the Gladiator club due to great trade ins on pickup trucks.

And, just to pile on, I too am in a Gladiator for this same reason....

Traded in a '19 Tundra for $8k more than new with 16,000 miles. Local Jeep dealer had the truck I liked, and they matched some promotional pricing I had seen online. Easy deal, got the Gladiator plus a check for $4K ha..... and been loving it ever since. Of course I've now spent that $4K on mods for the Gladiator..... :CWL: :CWL: :CWL:

But here is my question, WHO is buying all these crazy high priced used trucks from the dealers?? I genuinely don't understand who the buyer is when you can just go buy new?

But, I've also wondered that for years buying and selling Toyota 4Runners/Tacomas/Tundras with high residuals. Just seems really crazy right now.

Hoping the Gladiator holds it's residual like expected, time will tell, but I fully expect it to.

Crazy used car values right now. If you are fence sitting .....do it. Most likely will never see trade in values like this again.
yeah, but you also arent getting discounts like usual. Trades rise, sell prices rise.

Now, if you are ordering at one of the discounters who are still doing the same deals, then thats good.
