Chip shortage is finally affecting Gladiator production

Could this be why the '22 production date was pushed to Nov 22? I was 'in process' with Gupton to finalize to a '21 delivery since '22s are early Dec delivery date.

Guess that solves that..... I should expect a '22 and possibly the price increases to go with it. I was already seeing option & base costs pushed up from the early 21 build price.

I ordered Rubi with all the options (and chips!) on July 5, and they are telling me it's built and now going through other final assembly stages with a delivery date in approximately 2 weeks.

Meanwhile, I have the Mopar COI, Pedal Commander and Corsa Touring exhaust sitting in my garage awaiting the JT!

I wanted to order parts and I held back after my Bronco Dreams were crushed, I would have been livid if I ordered parts and was wondering like I am now if I will have a jeep in a few days or not at all lol. With how the shortages have gone I would expect to take whatever date they give you and add another year lol

Yeah I wonder how much of this was planned out RE MY 2022. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

And regarding price increases - it's been increasing on each order guide for a while now; I expect that will continue but there probably won't be a spike in the amount of increase.

I would imagine if your vehicle is already in the build process they’ll finish it, just probably not starting any new builds. That’s the part that sucks for people like me who ordered on June 23rd and still don’t have build dates, now it may never get built (or at least not as a 2021 model). Although Jeep chat told me they’re not canceling my order, it will just be delayed.

The thing that sucks is that my salesperson says it's done and should be shipping (as of like wed) but jeep chat says it's in the Framing stage of production and I don't get how the information could vary like that. I won't know untill I randomly do or don't get a call soon I guess

Hard to believe it's just now affecting the Gladiator. Especially since it shares almost everything with the JL. I ordered mine on May 30th and was told it was a 12-14 week wait due to the chip shortage. I got my VIN about a week and a half after I ordered. My Gladiator was built in December 2020 according to the VIN. I checked in with Jeep Chat every week, It was in scheduling until July 26th, one of those weeks, I was told the Toledo plant was closed the whole week for "maintenance". I finally got my email from Jeep on July 26th advising me my delivery date was the 1st week of September.

I assumed this had already happened. With used market prices being what they are, I could trade in and be very much in the green. But from what I've seen, the discounts aren't near what they were pre-shortage. Would pretty much be a wash.

Well I talked to my Sales guy again and my July 1st Order won't be affected by the shutdown, but delivery may be delayed due to a driver shortage. I'm willing to drive to Toledo and just leave my current car wherever the jeep is parked lol.

I got $7500 just to turn my F150 lease in early make's it easier to buy something at MSRP lol. Do they ever really have significant discounts on new Jeeps? I've never bought one prior to this.

I just want my damn JT in Gecko, I don't really care what year it is. Obviously getting a 22 at 21 price would be icing on the cake. Unless of course they decide to do Punkn or Crush for 22. I'd probably be hard pressed to switch from gecko though.

Thats how it worked for the Bronco. The worst part about the Bronco is that I did my research and figured out what top etc to get so I wouldn't get delayed. And then after things got really bad they allowed everybody that ordered the other roof to switch to mine and so they all got to change their order and be in line in front of me again. I was so mad I ordered a Gladiator lol. So right now I have a gladiator that is done and waiting on a driver shortage and a 202(1,2,3) Bronco that Ford might build some day.

Huh.....ummm I'll take a new Gladiator. Without cruise control or power windows no driver assist please, or anything else that requires a chip. Matter of fact just give me the shell some Dana 60s all the mechanical parts. Including but not limited to a 426 hemi and a nice 4 bbl carb. Problem solved.

Well hope my order from 7/20 either is made eventually or minimal changed to 2022 because i have parts already piling up in garage. Got VIN 7/27 so hopefully that means something positive.

What would be really nice for all of you that will be waiting is while they try to get chips they use this time to tool up for MY22. Just sounds like that was the plan anyway.

IMO all of you with 21 orders in should get 22's at MY21 prices and a chance to change your order for anything new offered for 22.....

I'm sure they want your business and want you to have your new Jeep as much as you want it.

If you been issued a VIN, I don’t see Jeep changing your order to a 2022 model year. The VIN is assigned to a model year. The only thing they could do is assign a new VIN matched to your order.
