I went to go pick up my JT from the dealer service and didn't have a ride home. So I figured flat towing my JK would be an easy solution. Used to do it with my 2500 RAM no problem. I have a emergency braking system in the JK but not a supplementary braking system. I ended up disconnecting pretty quickly as the JK was pushing the JT around quite a bit in breaking. I'll need to find a used brake buddy or something like that before I try this again. The JK is well under the max towing weight for the JT

It's not too late to delete this and not let anyone new know you tried this and think just because it's within the tow rating you can do it safely. Most states require trailer brakes once the load is over 3000lbs

Yeah....we all do stupid stuff sometimes. I once (in my young and indestructible '20's) flat-towed a M715 for 40 miles behind a Suburban. Luckily it was smooth, flat country roads. But after a few stops, I realized that the M715 had the advantage in this wrestling match!

Yes, braking is an obvious need and I think required in all 50 states for a towed vehicle that heavy? (1500/3k lb in CA).

I have never liked the feeling of flat towing a Jeep even in my 19Klb Peterbilt towing my YJ or Ram 3500DRW. Maybe I'm just over sensitive to those dynamics. Can't imagine flat towing behind the JT!

I always think of this when people bitch about the “Nanny state”. Does it exist, yeah it does. Would you REALLY rather DIE from some stupid mistake you made. Like the young guy from the Star Trek remake that got squished to death against a wrought iron gate by his Jeep because he stupidly forgot to put it in Park (And all the other ones too that weren’t famous).

Yeah, make all the references to Darwinism you want but if it’s your mistake and yourself or your loved one that gets maimed or killed I’d rather have a little nanny-ism save me/them.
